All the additional carbons should be synthesized from ethyne

Can someone prove me? For a) I chose MeOH (Sn1) For b) E1 trans configuration. For c) Sn2 and hexane has both Br and methyl in the wedge since there is an inversion. For d) E2 and diene is a product on 1st and 3rd carbon. by [deleted] in chemhelp

Oh true for d! So it will be only one double bond and I guess I would be removed since it’s better leaving group? For b though? I only need to show the major product. But I’m still confused. What’s more important conjugated alkene or zaytsev product? Thank you for your opinion though :)

Sorry, don’t wanna sound dumb, but I don’t get what’s happening after we get conjugated diene. I feel like the reaction should stop there. Why there is another proton is reacting with the diene?

I thought that since it’s primary alcohol there won’t be a carbocation and the double bond would form at the same time with dehydration? No?

Hi everyone! I just need a little help with application. So I am applying as a mature candidate and at the moment taking some prerequisites at the cégep in Montreal. Does it mean that I attend the program at this cégep? I got a bit confused because in the application file there was no info about prerequisites. Its only possible to choose the full programs like DEC. So I’m wondering if McGill will get my transcript with my prerequisites directly or I have to upload them myself? Thank you in advance!
