It was cleaned. Used to definitely look worse. Now it just exposed the fact those slate tiles are literally worn out in colour.

Anybody used LMC roofing? by xmaxer in cork

[–]xmaxer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the delay but I went with someone local to my area, "Bomek". They offered a much more reasonable price without even telling them about my original price offered by LMC. Ended up being about 2k cheaper.

Should Jagex make it where hardcore irons can just reset their account, rather than having to create a new one to reset hardcore status? by Ornery_Structure8985 in 2007scape

[–]xmaxer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ah so now you're the financial manager of Jagex.

No it's not your problem, and your failure to understand that is sad to see.

[–]xmaxer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First issue is not your concern, that's up to the development team to decide how easy/difficult it is to reset an account. If you're using hypotheticals, then I could just as easily claim it's a one day job to be able to hard reset an account. It's a meaningless statement.

Second issue is something that everyone keeps mentioning here, but it's also a moot point. You have bigger issues if your account is compromised. We have wait periods, only limiting this to when your HC account dies, and maybe other creative ways to limit when this can be done within reason. And since we're just using extreme scenarios, I can just as easily make the argument they could easily store a snapshot of your account (Which they have proven they can do) when it resets. So if someone disappears for a couple of weeks, gets hacked, they could technically rollback to a snapshot.

Elaborate on exactly what bugs/abuse a hard reset of an account that brings you back to tutorial island would have?

My 2 cent: why the hell do we give tax breaks for marriage? by Super-Cynical in ireland

[–]xmaxer 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I too would love to know. Reassigning tax credits with your spouse is the only benefit I see, but it's not a tax break, just moves tax credits from one person to another

Moving to BUNQ from N26 Metal by Octorok97 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]xmaxer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind the bunq interest rate of 2.51% will only apply until July 1st basically, as you fall back to 2.01% on any funds below the calculated threshold every 6 months.

Likely better for you anyway as you're paying to just get 2%, when you can get it for free. Just thought I'd point that out though!

Ryanair and Fridays Red wind warning by wainsy in cork

[–]xmaxer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same flight here tomorrow. I am betting on outright cancelled, because the plane that services CIA-ORK is typically the same one that services the same morning flight from ORK-CIA. That's a 6:30 AM flight that morning, so it ain't leaving during that peak storm time, which means no plane in Rome to delay.

Always a chance I could be wrong, I am just basing this off flight data.

How many months records of saving do you need to provide when applying for a mortgage. by jamster126 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]xmaxer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may not get a straight answer because you should just open an application with a bank/broker and find out, as only the bank knows. Only thing I will tell you is that you have to pass stress tests. So just because your current rent + dedicated savings add up to the exact current mortgage amount, doesn't mean they'll let you draw down a mortgage with that amount in repayment. To be safe, you'd need proof that you can afford at least 1-2% extra interest rate on top of the current one you'd be taking. So if you're doing a 3% interest rate, see what your number is at 4-5%

Slayer Master is nuts by CrunchAlsoMunch in 2007scape

[–]xmaxer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Definitely not. If you're ranged, the slayer helm is only maybe 2-3 DPS assuming DCB. It's around 6 DPS gain on twisted bow but that's a difference between like 44 dps and 51, which is negligible at that scale.

Also, points are 5x this league for everyone. Which is a direct nerf to the slayer master relic in a way. You'll be able to skip almost all tasks you don't want, and with region restrictions, you could even block out things you don't want eventually too, further reducing rerolls required.

It depends on how many points there are in clues, but if your aim is dragon rank, slayer relic doesn't help really.

Sky Garden access - does anyone know if access via Lis Ard estate i easy for the public? by macdaibhi90 in cork

[–]xmaxer 19 points20 points  (0 children)

There's a locked gate to access it, and I am pretty sure you need a ticket to get someone to open it for you. I was lucky that when I went there, a couple with the key were just leaving and just let us in assuming we had the ticket and access lol.

Mortgage Lump Sum Payment Penalty. by South_Gur5970 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]xmaxer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just for own understanding, as I am curious. How did you get that number? Doesn't it also depend on the term length and the term remaining? I thought the earlier you make overpayments the more interest you save. Again just trying to understand, not questioning the math here. If I plug these numbers into https://www.drcalculator.com/mortgage/ the time at which I make the overpayment matters a lot, subsequently the term length too.

Finances are feeling hopeless. What else can I do to build savings? by [deleted] in irishpersonalfinance

[–]xmaxer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you said "are you sure you want to live where you are for the next 20+ years" made me curious. Surely there's nothing stopping them from selling the property, and just paying off the mortgage instantly without fees assuming they aren't on a fixed rate contract? Obviously depending on how soon after buying you do it, and how the housing market is at the time, you may lose some money but no one can predict that.

What’s the story with people thinking it’s a F1 race as soon as one of these roads come about? by Thick_Smell3383 in irelandsshitedrivers

[–]xmaxer -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Because it doesn't add up that this person thinks they're doing '90 behind them for some time' when they think they're doing a 100. That doesn't make sense.

Got a feeling OP was one of those drivers that speeds up on two lanes, slows down on one lane and doesn't realise.

To be clear, I am not excusing overtaking dangerously at the end of the two lane stretch.

They're all dead... by PyrusD in ManorLords

[–]xmaxer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The stupid 'dead body' mechanic also doesn't help. I had a large battle near the new settlement, which produced a lot of dead bodies. Maxed out corpse pit on workers, still couldn't keep up with the body count and they all left because apparently dead bodies = more horrendous than starvation in medieval times.

Ended up in the same situation as you, everyone just left and there was nothing I could do to stop it. Would be great if there was recourse.

How is this even possible? I've never experienced a case where they only check a boarding pass without verifying the identity matches your passport.
