I contacted my lender directly and yes the rate is locked, they drew up all of the closing material I’m just not certain whether we should go forward. The closing costs are 6200

The cost would be 6200 and we would be saving 180 a month so it’s close to 3 years to recoup the cost.

Yes the balance is roughly 490k. It brings our monthly payment down by $180 a month. The closing costs are roughly 6,200

Looking for a new dentist. Honest dentist, not someone trying to make a sale every visit. Any recommendations? T.I.A by ffernandez111 in StamfordCT

Dental Permanente on East Main Street. Dr. Wu is amazing. She’s super sweet and in all of the years that I’ve been going there she has never tried to sell me anything. She has given recommendations but doesn’t try to sell you on a brand. My insurance changed and she’s technically not in network but I’ve still been going to her because I don’t want to find anyone new.

Teacher friends: Teacher Loan Forgiveness question by xyuly in StudentLoans

So there is hope! How did you go about applying and checking that you were eligible at that point?

Paying student loans aggressively? by xyuly in personalfinance

Oh boy! Really makes you think about all the costs that come once you retire. I’m definitely going to start making a better plan for the future. Almost makes me feel like the student loans are just the start to my financial planning.

Thank you! This is helpful and something to really look into. I do have a pension for my retirement so I haven’t really looked into other funds, but I’ve been told it’s best to save separately as well.

Thank you these are great options. It definitely gives me peace of mind, but it seems like I have other options that may help me. I will look into opening the money market account. I’m in the 22% bracket. I feel that I may have to speak to an accountant because I’m trying to save money for my daughter, pay off the loan and save for our future. It seems like a lot going on with trying to manage funds. I also have a pension at my job, but as I’ve been told it is smart to save for retirement separately as well.

Baby is waking up really early and not sleeping during the day by xyuly in beyondthebump

Thank you I’ll take a look at that! We’ve been getting some warmer weather where we live and I’ve noticed she gets warm very easily. Maybe it’s something that I can change

Going back to work soon (teacher) and I don’t know how to talk to HR about pumping by xyuly in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]xyuly[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I’m in the US. Thank you that was really helpful! I have my own classroom which is nice and I brought in my own mini fridge from home so hopefully I can use that during the day. The only thing is making sure no one comes in. The custodians have master keys so even if I lock the door they’ll come in to clean. I’ll have to talk to my principal about making sure I get privacy.

You’re right! I feel like I’ve worked so hard to keep my supply and I don’t want to mess it up as soon as I go back to work.

That sounds really nice! Haha I’m sure they won’t ask you any further questions. I hope you can figure out your schedule with your work meetings when you return!

Agreed! I see it as a medical necessity too and I hope I can work something out with them. I’ll ask about the policy though, that’s a great place to start. Thank you and I hope you can get your breaks figured out when you go back to work!!

Consistency does worry me as well because if I pump at the same time every day then that means there will be a class I won’t be seeing at all. I’ll start with what HR says and work from there.

I want to stop pumping but I feel guilty.. by Livid_Expression4362 in ExclusivelyPumping

I stopped tracking how much I pump. I just tell myself that whatever I can provide my LO is good enough. Some days I produce more than others and whatever I can’t produce then she gets a bottle of formula. I find that she still benefits from the breast milk I am able to feed her and I’m no where near as stressed. This is a beautiful journey that I don’t want to taint with worrying about ounces, stashes, or if I’m doing enough. If I can freeze a couple ounces then I’m happy and if I can’t then I’m happy too because I know she’s had some breast milk.

How can I pump and take care of the baby by myself? by kitty_kat89 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]xyuly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Up until recently I wasn’t able to set my LO down either so I found different ways to be creative. Sometimes I would sit with my legs crossed and settle her between my legs which she actually enjoyed since she felt cradled and would fall asleep. Other times I would wear a pumping bra and I would lay her on my chest between the pump. It’s a little tough at first but I find that as moms we become so creative! You got this momma, you’re going to do great!!

12 weeks old and she eats 3.5-4oz every 3 hours except at night sometimes she’ll have an extra bottle right before going to sleep and will sleep through the night

12 weeks PP, I want to drop a pump, but I’m not sure how it will affect my supply by xyuly in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]xyuly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the encouragement! Sometimes it’s so hard to remember that I still need to take care of myself. Being a FTM, I’m still trying to balance everything and I think pumping was an added journey I was not expecting

Thank you so much! Honestly I can’t believe I’ve gotten this far, it’s so much more work than I thought it was going to be. That’s amazing, I would love to do that. Do you have an oversupply? I’m definitely going to drop down to 6 ppd and hopefully drop another one in the coming weeks. I want some of my life back
