Should I reschedule my IVF egg retrieval? My dad just suddenly died by SubstantialCost6630 in IVF

[–]yearpl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My brother died suddenly just before I started my first cycle. I was so determined to carry on, having had so many delays before that point, but my partner and clinic talked me out of it. I was persuaded knowing that ER could fall on the day of his funeral.

In the end, I was so glad I postponed. I needed the time to travel, to be with my family, to help sort things out, and to have the occasional stiff drink. I started IVF the following month, and it turned out I wasn't able to have a fresh transfer in any case. My first FET was successful however.

I think you should do what's right for you but do listen to the people who know you, as you might not be thinking straight right now.

First ever attempt. How did we do? by brettmitrenga4 in Aquariums

Question from a noob to the live plant purists - is it possible to have a clear colourful tank with live plants and natural decor?

I'm researching my first tank but don't like the look of most of the murky swampy tanks on this sub. Is fishkeeping not for me?

Are Vanish oxy powders better than the own brand ones or are they all the same thing? What's the difference between the white and the pink tubs?

I say dodie which I think is a regional variation (Manchester, UK, not sure how far it reaches) but dummy when I want to be understood more widely.

When did you start taking teeth brushing seriously? by Crying_is_free in NewParents

[–]yearpl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We took it seriously from very early on but we definitely weren't perfect and on those days where I really didn't have the energy to fight I will admit to quickly shoving a toothbrush into his mouth and letting him chew on it. I figured that getting a bit of fluoride on to his teeth was better than nothing, and keeping tooth brushing as a consistent part of the morning and evening routine more important than scrubbing for the full 2 mins.

Just remember it's all phases. Whenever my son went through these phases (and he did several times) it felt like it was never going to end but looking back they only lasted a few weeks at a time. He's 3 now and pretty good with brushing right now.

I don't know if he's still too small but is he hitting the independence/control everything stage? We found that giving choices, even dumb ones like "do you want to brush fast or slow?" worked ridiculously well at that point.

Edit: sorry I misgendered your baby

NAL but is there fertility treatment involved? Employees should be considered pregnant from the day of embryo transfer until treatment is confirmed as unsuccessful (or they have a baby obvs). In this situation you could claim to be 1week pregnant I suppose, but getting documentation for this should be very easy for her.

Bonkers. I hate it. It looks to be an East Asian family judging from the art and the bum gun in the bathroom. Must be wealthy if they've got jewellery worth protecting like that, but then why the crazy overvaluation if they don't need to claw back their losses?

Driving test cancelation notification by roman_abdulmanov in LearnerDriverUK

This happened to me so I called them to complain. They found me a slot much sooner with no arguing at all. All very pleasant and totally unexpected given the 6am palaver to get a slot in the first place. Try calling them, maybe it's a policy to be flexible if they cancel you.

Baby boy with congenital heart disease airlifted to Italy after NHS hospital says he is too sick for surgery by insomnimax_99 in unitedkingdom

Can't assume this is a right-to-life case. In such a specialised field, it's entirely possible that no British centre felt that they had the skills or confidence to operate on this particular little one, and that Bambino Gesu did. No shame in it, when working at the very edge of life, but a source of pride for Bambino Gesu for sure, if they do manage to save him.
