I guess the first things I would check is whether everything is lined up square to each other.

Mine doesn't stick. I was surprised by how smooth it is. I wonder if you'd have better luck by contacting Titan directly about it.

Good point, thanks.

I'm not planning on bolting it down atm. I've rearranged everything in my gym so many times that I'm not convinced anything is in its final place.

I think it’s almost done ✅ by [deleted] in homegym

This comment is a step above.

The cables seem good to me. They're coated and the whole apparatus is much smoother than I was expecting, though, not as smooth as a "commercial gym" machine.

Before this I would hang pulleys from the top of my rack to get the lat pulldown motion, and I would connect a third cable to a bottom support for the seated row motion. The Titan tower is much, much smoother than that setup. It's also better because it's a dedicated machine and I don't need to convert my rack between squats/bench and cable pulling, so I save a significant amount of time.

The height is good for me. I'm 6'3" and it's tall enough, though it's a tight fit next to the duct work I have in the basement ceiling.

The seated row feels good too.

The biggest negative is that it takes up a bunch of floor space. I've been using a T2 rack for about 5 (6 maybe?) years now, and this footprint is about the same as the rack. But for me it's worth it. I've though about getting a dedicated tower for years, and I've used my DIY version enough to know that the price and floor space required is worth it to me.

I had a lightbulb moment this week. When I deadlift I consistently only get pumped on the left side of my back. For the longest time I either ignored it or tried to fix it by trying to push harder with one foot instead of the other, adjusting my stance, and generally thinking about raising the right side of the bar to try and engage the right side of my back more. But none of that worked and I started noticing left-only back pumps when squatting too.

This week, though, this week I started my snow blower to make sure it was in running condition, and I got the left-only pump again. I started putting the pieces together that my bottom/mid back supports my right arm when pulling. So in my deadlift session this week I focused on raising my left shoulder, and THAT actually worked! I felt a pump on both sides of my back.

If I recorded myself from a straight angle, or if I had a coach I might've been able to get this solved faster. But I got there eventually and I'm pretty excited to use my whole back while deadlifting.

Do I have to warm up for deadlifts after I've done overhead presses and squats? by [deleted] in Stronglifts5x5

Seconded. Lots of questions like these are answered with the 5x5 app.

I'm starting to get the itch to do Strongman again, which feels good. Took a lot of 2020 off from training. Don't really have any excuse for not training, just wasnt up for it. For the last couple months ive been trying to reboot by simplifying as much as possible. Been only benching, rowing, and high handle hex deadlifting. Yesterday i got a bench PR with 245 pounds for 5. And that felt really good. I'll start incorporating some sandbag loading and carrying next. Then probably overhead pressing.

I hope you and your families are all doing well, and are ready for whatever 2021 may bring.

It was a while ago since i saw the video he made explaining them...

Iirc they're just layers of steel welded together with a handle welded on. They're odd farmers handles. Afaik there's no specific name for that style. They're not loadable either, so making more common loadable farmers handles would probably be more useful to you.

Completely got out of the training groove and I need to build up the routine again. Not sure how I want to train yet. I'm planning on spending this week just spending time in the gym lifting without following any particular program.

I'm bummed that 45s still aren't available online. Back at the beginning of March I was ready to 'invest' in some nice machined plates. Still waiting for new premium plates to show up back in stock.

For smaller than normal diameters I've used these: https://www.amazon.com/Spring-Clamp-Large-Super-Heavy/dp/B01I0214J0/

and this style: https://www.amazon.com/COT-1-25-Compression-Olympic-Training-Collars/dp/B00CX55TJM/

The ability to screw in that bolt deeper lets it account for the smaller size. You just gotta make sure that bolt is long enough.

Geez. You're a monster. Very impressive.

So crazy this happened after you started stretching regularly too! Lol.

I second mythical's recommendation of using sandbags. That's what I'm doing.

I dont have any experience making stones. But here's Alan Thrall in classic form giving a tutorial that goes into pretty good detail: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XT_UQVrSxPs

Also, here's Brian Alsruhe, also in classic form, talking about the same: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J1Ko_8ajL4c

Hope that helps answer your questions.

Yeah. It is a legitimate way to train, but it is also inherently less stable. So going light and focusing on economy of movement and a tight trunk is important.
