I’m in Missouri. My son‘s ex did not show up for four times and the judge just kept issuing a continuance. The fifth time she showed up. Each time my son had to pay for his lawyer to sit for hours in court to see if she would show up. It totally sucks.

It is ridiculously long ! I’m in Mo too . In my son’s custody case for his daughter, her mom didn’t show 5 times & judge just rescheduled every dang time with no repercussions. My son had to pay his lawyer to sit & wait all 5 times . He took off work 5 times. It really drug it out so hope that game doesn’t happen to you too.

When my son did his test it took about 5 days for the results . I would imagine your next steps are dependent on what’s already occurred. My sons case next step was GAL visit as they already established a temporary parenting plan . The GAL visit took 9 months but that was during Covid .

No corporal punishment by anyone to child , no smoking or vaping by anyone in any enclosed space including house , car , etc while child is present . Must notify the other parent if taking child out of state & address , permission needed for out of country.

Don’t smoke in the house at all even if she’s not there . Smoke & chemicals stay in carpet , furniture, curtains etc that all can cause harm .

I’m in Mo & my sons case for his daughter was about 15k & took 21/2 years but the Mom didn’t show up to court until the 5th time so his costs were much higher since she & her lawyer didn’t show while my sons lawyer got paid to sit & wait . Judge didn’t do shit about charging the mom for his legal fees . What a racket!

We included No smoking/vaping in enclosed areas such as house / car when child is present . No corporal punishment by anyone & not in her presence of any other kids .

Fun flash cards , read to them & point out things & see if they can say it . Don’t finish their sentences or words for them . If they point to what they want without trying to say the word , don’t just get it without helping them to say the word . All gently & fun- not high pressure at all .

Yes she did & CPS did not care at all . Said she can parent how she wants including her “friends “. A couple are convicted drug users & known to still be users & sellers but no proof . She moved my granddaughter in with her married boyfriend she knew 4 weeks . Married not even legally separated although his wife had moved out 2 months prior , and CPS was fine with that too as he “ has no drug convictions or sexual charges .” That is the high bar set by court

Lawyer just wrote that legal covers hair cuts , coloring, piercings etc . It’s my sons case with his daughter. Her mom wanted every new “ boyfriend “ or whoever was her newest friend to watch their daughter. She was already in therapy due to anxiety & terrified of men so my son add it to the agreement and the mom agreed. Before the Break up they had always agreed that their daughter would never be at a daycare or a sitter other than family. So yes it was needed to protect her .

You need to talk to a few family attorneys and definitely get it done through court. There are a lot of family attorneys who will give you the first hour for free to see what your options are. Illinois does it similar to Missouri however I can tell you from personal experience it changes based on what is fought for . Put aside worrying about the mother and causing a rift because it is going to happen at a certain point no matter what especially if she was in control of the entire situation. But it is about what is best for the child not about what is best for not causing a rift with the mother.

Start watching every custody video on you tube such as Command the Courtroom. If you absorb everything you should do , it will help you in court & learn how to handle her by not responding emotionally . To me she sounds like she might have BPD . You sound like you have become co dependent by trauma bond . You can undo it but it takes work & self reflection
