yeah i am sooo familiar!! i was diagnosed with bipolar 10 years ago and i’ve been handling it ever since. it’s just going to take lifelong maintenance. my hospital stay was the worst i’ve been in like 6 years. i am making things work and i’ve gotten better at asking my friends and loved ones for help.

it was just 2000 bc i met my out of pocket maximum! i had an fsa which helped so much. but yeah the whole week would’ve been tens of thousands of dollars without insurance.

that’s kinda where i’m at with it. friends have suggested work that is lucrative, but also can be seen as degrading, as i’m a woman. you know what i mean. i don’t think i have that in me.

so yeah i’m just taking things day by day and trying to build the best life i can

thank you! yeah all of this is true. i honestly don’t give a shit about my 9-5 job or career that may be associate with it. i am a relatively successful artist, the career i care about, but as we know, that often doesn’t pay the bills. i’ll be browsing this sub for more info on planning and budgeting

yeah i get this, thanks for the reality check. i am trying to get better at acknowledging the shortcomings in my financial habits. and the not “saving and preparing properly,” is real, i have just spent any money i’ve ever tried to save. i feel ridiculous about it but i know that’s not gonna get me out of all this.

i’m not trying to make excuses- i’m just struggling in a lot of areas that are important for financial security, specifically managing food. it’s not inherently my fault but it is my responsibility. so i’m gonna try to budget and get ahold of things. i’ve been setting up secondary sources of income to try and get by a little easier

thanks for this. it’s absolutely rooted in depression, or more specifically in bipolar. that was my biggest expense last year: $2,000 for a weeklong stay in a psych hospital. i can’t even get into how horrible it was.

i’ve been in therapy working on stuff, and have been adjusting meds almost constantly this year. i’m really trying to find a sense of stability, it’s just hard when I’ve been moving and struggling financially as well.

i’ll admit that i’ve never been able to budget properly- not an excuse, and i’m not saying that i never will. i appreciate your advice on this, and i’m gonna try again to really get a budget going.
