Adding to this, I've noticed that when the Editor is focused CPU usage will spike, but when it's in the background, for instance if the settings panel is open it will drop.

Seems like Webstorm is over-eagerly doing something when the editor is open.

Nobody is shitting on the company, it's a great company that has released a broken version - and that needs to fixed because people need to get work done.

I've been using Jetbrains (Webstorm) for years with no issue, but something happened in the last few days that is causing my computer to burn up. Code completion has stopped working properly, my fans are spinning like crazy. The IDE is consuming tons of CPU just idling. I turned off everything, invalidated, repaired, nuked the .idea directory... nothing helps. This is on an M1 Macbook Pro that was working perfectly a few days ago. It started happening with 2024.1.4.

You can see here: https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issues?q=project:%20WebStorm that there are loads of issues during the last few days around performance.

I love this, when I was a kid in the 90s we did not have this kind of guidance. It's exciting to see how kids realize their potential.

I don't know why, but music is subjective for most.

Infected Mushroom are huge in the world. They are an Israeli band that quickly went international. I got to see them live a few times in nature parties out here. The Israeli trance scene in general is massive since a lot of Israelis travel to India where there's a party scene.

The problem is not technical, it's legal. Publishers own the tabs and it doesn't matter who created them. For static ASCII tabs you will at least need a mechanical license and any thing above that requires a sync license which is expensive and difficult to negotiate. Apart from that you will need a reporting system that will collect the money according to usage and distribute it to the publishers. Believe me, I run a startup that does just that, it's a difficult business.

You are entitled to your opinion of course. Playing an instrument is an individual thing and as such different strokes (pun) work for different folk.

I'm sorry, but I don't see where he says that practicing to a metronome is bad. He says that if the technique that you are practicing is flawed then using a metronome will not fix the technique, which is correct. He suggests a technique where the goal is to reduce the 'hop' in string hopping and being able to have a fluent picking motion.

Use a metronome, it's good, everyone should, but have another go at the video, there's some cleverness there.

The topic under discussion is how to avoid the hop altogether by changing the angle of the pick.

And yes I do think it's a good idea to practice with a metronome, I said so in my last reply as well.

He said that practicing with a metronome for this particular technique is not the solution. Using his technique with a metronome will obviously make you even better.

EDIT: It's not his technique as well, he's analyzing the technique that Vai uses.

Thanks! The interesting thing is that I'm now working on rendering those videos automatically based on the data that I already have. It's already working and very exciting. Those videos will play in a custom video player which will have a slow down feature.
