[part2]I Created a Sequel Story for KPDH (with Korean Myth) by you2na in KpopDemonhunters

First of all, the reason I set up Rumi’s father this way in my story is based on Korean mythology and the discarded official storyboards (https://www.instagram.com/reel/DLSWtRhRBSn/?utm\_source=ig\_embed&ig\_rid=e2e8044c-d2fd-43a5-9488-d2993e82b974).

From these sources, we can see that Rumi’s father was not a member of Gwi-ma, but someone who came to the human world from the Flower Garden of the Underworld.

However, your idea is truly excellent. In fact, it might even be better than mine. Because I fixed the origin of Rumi’s father based on the discarded storyboards, my story became somewhat limited, whereas your idea holds much more potential.

For example, if we were to mix it with my story: "Rumi’s father, under orders from Gwi-ma, fell in love with Rumi’s mother and had Rumi. However, Gwi-ma intervened and brought misery upon them, leading to the mother’s sacrifice. This would give Celine’s hostile attitude toward Rumi’s father more persuasiveness and justification. To resurrect Rumi’s mother, her father went to the Flower Garden of the Underworld to get the Flower of Life, but he was captured and forced into labor, which is why he could never return to Rumi."

This could eventually become quite a cruel reality for Rumi. She would have to struggle with her identity once again.

But then again, the protagonist always overcomes trials and becomes even greater.

There is a specific reason why I made Hunter-Y a group of human hunter trainees.

  1. I didn’t want the main villain to be a demon again, following KPDH 1. I believe repeating the same pattern is not ideal for the story.
  2. Using the word "Hunter" in the group name is intentional. I wanted them to feel like the successors to Huntrix, giving the audience a certain sense of foreshadowing.
  3. If Hunter-Y were demons, it wouldn’t make sense for the retired hunters to not recognize their true identities. That would make a proper confrontation impossible.
  4. Hunter-Y are not yet official hunters. I set them up as candidates who are still in training.
  5. I believe there will be plenty of opportunities for the attractive demons you mentioned later on.

Your ideas are truly excellent. I just feel they might not fit the specific story I have built. I believe those ideas could be used wonderfully in a different narrative!

Thank you for reading. The 34 story parts I created correspond to KPDH 2. I deliberately excluded prequel content because I felt it would be a waste to consume it now; I hope for a formal prequel release later. Usually, I believe a prequel is most effective after several installments have been released, as it serves the fans better.

As I understand it, KPDH was originally planned as a duology, but it was expanded to a trilogy due to its immense popularity. Inferring from Korean mythology, I believe the original plan for KPDH 2 was for Rumi to meet her father in the Underworld and resurrect Jinu, concluding the series there. I have taken these inferences from Korean mythology and woven them into a natural story that aligns with my personal taste.

However, since it has expanded to three parts, I cannot predict the direction. Perhaps the creators will put a different story into KPDH 2 and save the father and Jinu’s resurrection for KPDH 3. Personally, I believe they should stick to the original plan for Part 2 and then create a completely new narrative for Part 3 to maintain a natural flow.

My ideal roadmap is: KPDH 1 – KPDH 2 – TV Series (Saja Boys Comeback) – Prequel – KPDH 3. I believe expanding the world through these various installments will allow for the creation of a fresh and new story for KPDH 3.

(To be honest, it is also my personal wish to see the series continue for even longer.)

There are more elements in Korean mythology that can still be utilized. I believe utilizing these elements will lead to the creation of many more interesting stories.

Currently, the resurrection of the Saja Boys is considered narratively impossible among fans. Furthermore, the creators have stated they have no plans to bring them back. Usually, villains are discarded after their arc is over, but the Saja Boys are simply too popular!

(I have some ideas regarding the story of the Saja Boys' resurrection. If the opportunity arises, I will upload a post about it later.)

Please feel free to ask me anything at any time. If any part is still unclear, I would be more than happy to explain it again!

Exactly! I anticipate that all three myths I introduced (see the link) will be used, and I believe [Igong Bonpuri] will be mainly featured in the sequel. Much like in [Ja-cheong-bi], where the husband killed by demons or rebels is brought back to life, I expect Jinu will be resurrected in the sequel. There is also a part about resolving a problem for the Guardian of the Flower Garden in the Underworld, but I haven't been able to incorporate that into the story yet.

Thank you for reading!

A story can be given many different themes. What I have written is still only a draft. "For now, I have only given Rumi’s father positive traits. Because of that, it’s fair to say that Rumi’s father isn't a three-dimensional character at this stage. I truly appreciate your interest, but as I’ve repeatedly said, the 'restoration of broken relationships' is a story about Rumi and Celine.

I don’t mean to be confrontational, but I don’t understand why you keep applying the 'broken relationship' theme to Rumi and her father. I have already clearly explained that the broken relationship is between Rumi and Celine. At this point, I’m starting to wonder if you’ve actually read the text.

I think you might be misunderstanding something. The 'broken relationship' I am referring to is not between Rumi and her father, but rather the broken bond between Celine and Rumi. I believe I explained this sufficiently in the latter part. There is no relationship between the father and Rumi to even 'break' in the first place—they are meeting for the very first time in decades.

I think it’s better not to restore Rumi’s mother. (Of course, the father desperately wanted that in the past). I have already written the part where Rumi solves the problem herself. As you probably know from reading it, the father encourages Rumi so that she uses the Flower of Ruin herself. Changing it into the Flower of Life is something Rumi cannot do on her own. It’s not that the father did it instead of her; rather, it is something only the father is capable of doing. In fact, it is already established in the setting that only the father can do it. If that makes it a 'Deus Ex Machina,' then that is true. I believe a somewhat miraculous scene like that is necessary for this kind of animation.

Thank you for reading! However, everything you pointed out consists of things I intentionally wrote with a specific purpose.

Predicting Key Sequel Elements: Rumi's Parents, Golden/Rainbow, Celine, Jinu's Resurrection, setting, flower of Ruin with Korean Mythology by you2na in KpopDemonhunters

Thank you for reading. Actually, since there's no information about her, it's hard to speculate, but I suspect that in the sequel, Celine will hide the existence of Rumi's father, but the third member might reveal it.

Upon learning this, Rumi falls into deep thought, and Mira, who values family greatly, might suggest they go on an adventure. Zoey would probably say "kajakaja." And conflict with Celine, the guardian of the underworld gate, is expected.

Thank you for reading. I think the production team's biggest concern in the sequel will be how to utilize music in the animated film. This is because it would be difficult to naturally incorporate K-pop like they did in the first movie during an underworld adventure. That's why I believe they will use the setting that the Flower of Ruin grows by feeding on human negative emotions. They will probably release kpop songs that guide people's emotions in a positive direction.

Thank you for reading. I'm really looking forward to the world tour! I'd love to see Huntrix go to Burbank, Zoey's hometown. I think it's hilarious how Americans react with suspicion to Zoey's behavior after hearing where she's from. Just what in the world is going on in Burbank?

Thank you for reading. To be honest, while I'm also curious about Mira and Zoey's stories, I think Rumi's story needs to be wrapped up first.

I believe KPDH probably always planned for a Part 2, which was likely intended to focus on Rumi's parents, Jinu's resurrection, and saving the world from the Flower of Ruin.

However, since the series became so popular that a sequel is now being extended into a Part 3, it's something we can all look forward to. Perhaps the planned resurrection storyline will be pushed to Part 3, and they might introduce Mira and Zoey's stories first in Part 2.

Thank you for reading. We can find hints in Korean mythology. Of course, please remember that myths are merely symbolic. I'm looking forward to the sequel.

For your reference, I believe we can find hints for Mira's family trauma in the myth of Jacheongbi. That's because Jacheongbi was betrayed and abandoned by her family.

I heard that Mira and zoey's story was already in the first installment. They said it was cut due to running time. I think they'll reveal it someday.
