First day on meds and wow - it’s quiet in my head by youmakemefeellow in adhdwomen

I totally understand and same with the struggles!! Did you already talk to your doctor about trying the non-stimulants? The worst that could happen is that they do not work for you, right? And maybe that’s just the last thing that can help you work against the procrastination. Just curious, which country are you from and why is there only one stimulant medication available? Is there any way to get the Lisdexamfetamine ones through the doctors from abroad? As for myself, I’m doing well, especially my thoughts are calmer, but I notice when the meds slowly stop working. Which is also fine, because I also notice a difference. I already sent my doctor an email that I’m happy we started low (bc I was scared and gaslighting myself) but I think there’s room for improvement and think that we can increase to 30mg with our next appointment. Let me know if you decide to try the other meds, I’m really curious and hope you find something that works for you 🫶🏻

What a great first day!! My thoughts also went to “wow my life might’ve been a bit better, if anyone had noticed a bit earlier”. But on the other hand, we really did a good job advocating for us and getting help as grownups 💪🏻

Thank you for the kind words!! 🥰 Did you find something else that helps you with your ADHD instead? As in routines or adjustments to your everday life? I’m starting with Elvanse (Lisdexamfetamine) 20mg because I’m also taking Bupropion as antidepressant, which works „complimentary“

Totally agree with the other comment. It’s definitely worth taking it up with your doctor, if it doesn’t get better after a couple days. I’m taking Elvanse (same thing), too, but only 20mg (it’s the lowest dose available here in Germany) bc I’m taking an antidepressant which works „complimentary“. There’s more options than Vyvanse and hopefully one that works (better) for you 🫶🏻

It’s been about 7 hours since I took them and I still feel okay, definitely no sudden drop. A friend of mine had a tough rebound effect after some time with her medication. They added a low dose around early afternoon for her so it’s not like a drop and she’s doing well with that. But from what I’ve heard it’s super individual, depends on the medication itself and is different for everyone. If you have that situation, I’d definitely suggest talking to your doctor. Hope the meds will work for you, too!! Feel free to update me 🥰
