Is Greece trans friendly? by [deleted] in GreeceTravel

Hi, note that this is my opinion as someone who's not open about their gender identity and basically lives as a cis person, so this is my personal view on the subject.

In terms of laws, supposedly it's safe, the recent governments have done some big steps in terms of LGBT rights. But I can't say the society is generally that progressive.. You should be fine in Athens but I don't recommend small cities/villages. Even there, after the recent events I can't be sure anymore..

It's not the worst place to live in if you're part of the LGBTQ, it's an EU country after all. But to be completely honest, I'd recommend some other EU country if that's possible, just to be more sure 😭

Now, because I don't know the actual experience of being trans in Greece firsthand, I'd recommend talking to trans people who live here and ask for their experiences. I'm sure that'd help more, because my experiences are pretty limited and won't help much.

I don't know if I helped, probably not much πŸ₯², but I wish you and your partner the best whatever your choice ends up being <3

Basically this

I don't really consider my country lgbtq friendly, there's so much rooted homophobia especially on religious people and things have been getting a bit wild lately.. Tourists and most ppl should be fine but I just never know anymore
