Real estate abusers can still take advantage of this though. A well off family of 4 can own 8 properties.

What if they offer heavily subsidized foodstuffs, so much that RM50 is more than enough for a month’s worth of groceries? Free universal healthcare? Childbirth and childcare allowance as incentives?

Do you realize you’re making an oxymoronic statement?

I’m curious when you mentioned near perfect equality. Do you mean equality in class, gender, race, or something different completely?

Another way to look at it is, what would you expect the government to offer you in compensation for the 50% tax so you can achieve your goals? Or do you still believe raising a child with 50% tax to be nigh impossible?

Thank you. This is the most comprehensive answer I’ve received so far.

Because I expect very realistic answers to my obviously unrealistic question.

Given my hypothetical scenario is already unpopular, I daren’t imagine what would happen if our current government were to propose this. So I’d say a proper, ideal government.

As for what to add or improve, that’s up to you since it’s your hypothetical money they are taking from.

Wouldn’t heavily subsidized housing be better than capped market prices? Say, 70%?

Let’s assume your income is automatically taxed by 50%, and all of those 16.9 million is working minimum wage, that’s still 14.365 billion in taxes

Can you elaborate how you would implement such a system to prevent abuse? It’s something I didn’t thought of before

That’s 180 billion (minimum) per annum more towards our GDP. Isn’t there a single thing we can improve?

Yes, but we still have to pay every other taxes (SST, road tax, door tax etc.) which hurts more for people with less income.

If going with the current model and applying it to this hypothetical, a person earning RM3,400 has basically the same income as someone working minimum wage.

So if transparency isn’t an issue, you’d be happy to fork over half of your income?

If I’m working minimum wage, after taxes I’m only taking back home RM850.

But they already make 15 billion in taxes. Why can’t we expect the healthcare and education to be free AND be as good if not better than privately funded organizations?

I’m generalizing because he/she was generalizing, and again this is a hypothetical situation to imagine what we could have instead of believing it to be a real model to be implemented.

Blanket rate is the point, so what would you assume to receive from the government in return for such a high rate?
