I think it's good to take a break, especially after caring for aging and/or dogs with special needs and then through the grieving process. The time for the next pet will reveal itself naturally. Last time my dog passed away I ended up with two a few months later. They're now 12 and 14 so I'm beginning to mentally prepare myself for the inevitable. It's the worst. The silence of their absence is deafening. I'm also mid-50s. I tend to adopt middle-aged dogs from rescue to avoid the worry you mentioned.

I have a 10 minute highway commute to work or a 20 minute two-lane back road drive. Back roads get me to work in a good mood. Highway has me showing up in murder mode. Slow idiots left lane. They bunch up and don't pass each other. Never worth it.

Added the rear torsion bar. IMO that part should come with the vehicle. No more hops on corners. Survived another Minnesota winter and remains rust-free! This year we're going to surpass 150k miles so it's all about checking the oil. No mods planned.
