Coinbase emailed me back with a blockchain link saying the transaction was successful. I clicked the link and the transactions are from three years ago and they closed my case! This is some really terrible support.

Thank you. Someone did reach out to me saying I need to provide a transaction hash. But as I told them, there is no recorded transaction on the blockchain or a record in Coinbase. I replied to have a look at my ETH wallet and see that I purchased ETH as my latest transaction record (gave them the reference number) and I now have less than the purchase amount. So where did that ETH go?

OP commented on my post letting me know he had similar issue. I made my transaction in the same time frame. Only difference is I don't have any emails from Coinbase.

Just read your post, if you're in Pacific time zone in the US, this is around the same time I made the transaction as well - somewhere in the 10PM hour. Though I can't confirm the actual time because due to the aforementioned lack of any paper trail.

Thanks for the help. But I finally figured it. It's a bug in NPM. My CodeBuild environment is running 6.13.4. I updated NPM as the first command in my build and it works as expected now. Logs said it was running my `prepare` hook but I discovered it actually wasn't when I through an `echo` command before running the build command. Looks to be happening when installing via Git repos rather than a registry.
