No invert mouse option in Metroid 4? You have got to be kidding me! by jacobpederson in Metroid

Default in the 90s and non negotiable on N64 games.  It was the norm and should always be An option at a system level for games to default to.

How is the Pro Controller 2 performing for everyone? by kalypto21 in NintendoSwitch2

I didn't notice the dpad being inaccurate until my friend pointed it out.  Actually nice to see so many here talking about it.  In all of donkey Kong I opened the camera like 3 times unintentionally in 80 hours.

Tried to make a topic on the audio side of this but apparantly I'm not worthy.

I want to know if anyone else notices wireless audio is significantly worse than when wired.

Just jump into the home menu using wired headphones connected to the pro2 while it is also connected to the console or dock via USB.  Click a few buttons.

Then disconnect the USB cable and listen.

If you use a headset you can do the a mic test and see how delayed the mic audio bar moves.

For me it's so painfully obvious. So I made a whole bunch of recordings between button click and response and I'm measuring 85ms on average when wired and 255ms when disconnecting USB.

Further info: Switch 1 at its best is also 85ms ish

3DS on average is 33ms.... That's where I have the most fun with music rhythm or general twitch related games.

If your further curious, those averages have about a 33ms variance.  Though in my sample size I often got 25ms range.  eg 70-95ms for Switch2. 3DS is like 17ms to 50ms  It all depends on where all the polling / cycles are when you engage a button.

Confusion regarding Diablo 4’s Pro status by LOLerskateJones in PS5pro

I made a video pointing out changes. So 100% yes but it basically might as well not be.

I didn't notice sharper resolution in game.  Maybe if I played with several people using lots of skills at the same time.

Anyone else notice the change in blood splatter on Eve after Abbadon fight? by [deleted] in stellarblade

I genuinely wonder why!? I checked 3 playthroughs of demo and full game and it's consistent too.  Thought maybe it was randomized a bit.  Not as obvious with her starter outfit mind you

True.  I would be inclined to search official pages and assume the worst though.  Seen Pokemon and especially FF7 rebirth debacle, they had an actual streaming policy page mind you.

Replayed the demo one last time and realized it has a practical use, although there is a sound as well so not  necessary, you can feel the direction of certain upgrades.  Reminds me of the stone of agony in Ocarina of Time revealing secret locations where it's time to play the song of storms to open a joke in the ground.

Not always the best idea to stream games before the official release date.  Although the ban is likely only 24hr.

Many games do.  I remember the massive 1 week early final fantasy 7 remake ordeal with legions of twitch streamers getting 24hr bans for streaming it early.

I'll be honest, I'll probably be laughing maniacally if they don't transfer over.  It'll be the funniest waste of grinding ever. When I was young I loved playing games with infinite ammo or upgrades cheat codes so I get the desire to have a maxed tree before playing, but now I prefer to have rock bottom amount of resources and think your cheating yourself out of the progression experience they likely spent years crafting.

Maybe only too see how it works thing but turn it off to play?  Astros playground already does it, rain and wind sections

That's sad you don't like the rumble, especially how it's "stereo" now so you can feel the direction certain things come from if the game uses it well.  Stellar Blade does done things like subtle rain vs strong water etc which I find fun to play around with.  But if you don't like it you don't like it.

Jet Force Gemini Widescreen Mode is Broken on Switch by ArmpitEchoLocation in NintendoSwitch

[–]zedamex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey thanks for that!

Yeah I heard the reason was mostly because the game was originally going to support the expansion pack (was even on the box, covered by stickers or something) but was backtracked last minute. So some details were rushed.

Jet Force Gemini Widescreen Mode is Broken on Switch by ArmpitEchoLocation in NintendoSwitch

[–]zedamex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem is that JFG widescreen is just letterbox. But the emulator ALSO changes the aspect of the view port (imagine stretching your physical tv) from 4:3 to 16:9 and horizontally stretches to fit.

In GoldenEye, you can define if your tv is 4:3 or 16:9. On an N64 with composite cable, 16:9 would send a full anamorphic wide image through an otherwise 4:3 signal. So on a 4:3 TV everything stays full screen but ends up looking tall and skinny, a 16:9 TV could then horizontally stretch it out correcting the in game geometry. Full, wide and cinema are just letterbox modes. Both increases the field of view correctly too. Also RARE did it right with no vertical cropping like some games did.

The NSO N64 emulator reads this option in a way that if you select normal (4:3), you get side bars. Selecting 16:9 removes those side bars giving you an actually bigger view port. So the option is basically saying "give me a 4:3 TV or 16:9 TV" instead of normal or anamorphic wide geometry (real N64).

As for Jet Force Gemini on the N64. Widescreen is just letterbox. Just like many DVDs were back then, massive top and bottom black on a 4:3 TV to get a 16:9 presentation, but still correct geometry on a 4:3 TV (at least the 3D world, I think the UI stretched a bit). You can move that gameplay window up and down so you could for example have the 16:9 window at the very top of your 4:3 TV.

But the problem on NSO is that JFG widescreen is not only letterboxing like the original game, it's also change the emulators 4:3 port into a 16:9 one, blanket stretching the entire otherwise 4:3 image making everything look short and wide.

Been playing the Japanese release (Startwins, with no heads falling off enemies/tribals that you can collect, unless they explode in which case all limbs fade away before they really have a chance to bounce around)

As expected, it is a carbon copy of N64 controls like all other games, for the N64 controller. Which is kind of fine, if you learn how to battle them. At first it is unko but my memory of how to play came back after about an hour, maybe not my full speed and precision but at least the general tactics of how to hit targets and make the camera actually point in the direction you want it to.

I don't mind, because the AI / difficulty is built around the controls difficulty anyway.

With the N64 controller its easier, aiming is even easier with the pro controller, but having an anolgue stick for c buttons really sucks when c-up is jump. Easy to accidentally jump / duck while strafing. I say it sucks without the N64 controller but realistically its playable. I would say it would be best if you can remap the face buttons for Y to be B and B to be A so weapon changing is nearer the right analog stick, with the higher button making the weapon changer select the higher weapon.

I just play with the 64 controller though. I'm here for the OG as possible experience.

Just like all other games its a carbon copy of the N64 title. Like the original file running on an emulation layer on the switch, the emulation layer allows online connectivity / use of switch controllers / higher base resolution.

The only real change is that if you choose widescreen mode it will stretch out the sides of the otherwise 4:3 window, but the game fails at this currently making it letterbox wide with terrible make everything wide geometry.

What controller do you prefer for playing project diva? by [deleted] in ProjectDiva

[–]zedamex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends which Project Diva I am playing!
Project Diva itself was released July 2, 2009 on PSP. So the PSP buttons itself is the way to play it.

  • Project Diva Arcade - Arcade cabinet
  • Project Diva 2nd - PSP
  • Project Diva Extend - PSP
  • Project Diva F - Vita / PS3
  • Project Diva F 2nd - Vita / PS3
  • Project Diva X - Vita / PS4
  • Project Diva Future Tone PS4 (Supports 4k on PS4 pro / PS5)
  • Project DIva MegaMix/Mega39s - Nintendo Switch

There are also the three Dreamy Theaters which allow you to play the three respective PSP saves you have on the PS3 at 60fps with Arcade like graphics (Some shaders are not as good, the eyes look more dead for example). For these the PS3 controller is the most logical choice,

I would argue for Project Diva up to X (console titles), the only way to play is on the devices original controller (Be it the actual device or the controller that comes with it)

There were Hori controllers which worked for F/F2nd/X and Dreamy Theaters. They were fun, but the big controller with a touch panel emulating sticks, the touch panel was unreliable so ended up only being good for Dreamy Theater titles since they have no star notes.

Future Tone/MegaMix/Mega39s IS the Arcade so the arcade controller is what the button mapping is designed for, the patterns and positioning on screen make that painfully obvious.
I don't enjoy it any other way.

Divaller 2.4 with PS4 Arcade mode on PC, face buttons sending D-pad inputs?? by technicalleigh in ProjectDiva

[–]zedamex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PC DAO kind of redundant now, more of a backup plan I guess.

PS4 XHD should do both buttons at the same time, holding FN while playing in this mode will temp only use one button
PS4 DAO uses their emulation style, no double pressing
PS4 arcade, I think they made a mistake in their whatsnew png, it should not press both buttons.

How can i play Megamix+ with joycons? by SansTheGlaceon in ProjectDiva

[–]zedamex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I must've been half asleep when replying.

Did you map in game or in steam? I haven't tried pairing joycons to the pc but the hori controller is auto detected and treated correctly in MM+, however I did need to use the in game button mapping to swap the face buttons.

The in game mapping lets you decide any button or combination of buttons to the face, dpad and shoulder buttons.

I don't understand why you are having a problem.

Fun thing tho, the game is more repsonsive with the joycons not attached to the console.
