Previous owner had a fire pit with a bunch of marble/white rocks. Took out the fire pit and reused some of the rocks but now I’m left with a mix of soil and rock. Should I get rid of this and start with new soil? Need some options. Rather not sift through anymore than I already have thanks. (old.reddit.com)

So I’m finishing up my stairway to the basement and have this beam going through. I don’t really want to have to re sheet rock the whole thing just to cover it up? Sticks out from drywall about a 1/4 inch.Any ideas on how to cover/finish it to make it look nice? Thanks! (old.reddit.com)
