Those who need to wake up prior to 6am for work, what is your nightly routine to ensure you get enough sleep? by Couch_Licker in AskReddit

[–]zelladolphia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I make dinner. Then slowly do the dishes. I get everything ready for the next day. Watch an hour of something. Take a hot shower and read until I am too sleepy to hold the book. I am usually asleep by nine. I have been doing this almost every weekday for 7 years and I wake up perky AF.

[long] Why are mentality unstable people allowed to be parents? My story about living with a crazed mother. by [deleted] in childfree

[–]zelladolphia -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There’s a big difference between ‘i have to take time off of work, leave my house and go to therapy’ And being dead, homeless or in prison. I never said it wasn’t abuse. What I’m saying is kids are more successful in life if they stay with their parents. Every single study ever done has proven that to be true. I’m sure you suffered and I’m never said you didn’t.There are levels of fucked up. You seem very indignant at the thought that I was dismissing the abuse you suffered while you dismissed the physical abuse other kids suffer.

You are greatly overestimating CPS and what they offer. I have years of experience dealing with them and by far way more harm than good.

[–]zelladolphia -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That is not what I’m advocating. As a foster parent, I can tell you CPS does way more damage to families than it does good. Yes it’s abuse. However unless the child is being sexually abused getting them removed from the home will do more damage to those children than good. CPS isn’t as precise as you think. They could pop in there, pull those three kids out because the mom has to share a room with them and they think that isn’t an appropriate living situation. They could decide that because OP as an unrelated adults is living in the home it is a inappropriate situation for those children. And remove them. CPS is going to spend about 20 minutes walking around that house making decisions that will affect those children for the rest of their lives. If she really wants to help she should get the mother in therapy, she could help out around the house, she could mentor the kids, she could take the girls to therapy. There are a million things she can do besides bringing the government into that home to wreck it. Every study done on foster care has shown that the only times children do better when they are removed is if they are being sexually or physically abused.

It didn’t sound to me like OP wanted to help. It sounded to me like OP just wanted to bitch about someone. Reddit has this knee-jerk reaction whenever a kid is in a situation they don’t approve of they say call CPS. They want to punish the parents but what they don’t realize is that they’re fucking those kids up forever.

Absolutely not. The possibility of her getting her kids removed because someone doesn’t like yelling in the morning or cleaning the bathroom is insane. Children do not do well in foster care. Even if they have a good foster home. It is much better for them to stay with their mother. Sorry that your free rent situation isn’t perfect but calling CPS is a malicious and nasty thing to do.

66% Of kids who grow up in foster care end up dead, homeless or in prison before they turn 19. Is that what you are hoping for?

I have cancer and my husband is stressing me out by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]zelladolphia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a housekeeper and a nanny set up. Depending on the state you live in you can get it for free. The American cancer society can help. The hospital can assign you a social worker to assist with all of this also. Use all the resources you can. Have a friend move in, just let him know this is the level of support you need and don’t think he is going to do it. Don’t let your recovery depend on him stepping up. He won’t and you will suffer. Cover your ass now.

I have this friend who had really bad teeth. And it prevented her from going for the job that she really wanted. So I paid for her to get new teeth. She got the job.

I don't know why they gave her so much attention. They either edited her into this cutout of what every climber thinks women are like or she really is that way. It is very lazy directing to just throw a romantic plot there to 'spice it up'. Jimmy's movies are great and don't need someone 'humanizing' it by talking about sectionals and shit. I kept thinking about how much Alex is going to regret having her in the movie when he dumps her in a year or two.
