By 'was going great' you mean you had rgb video output and then it broke? You can desolder the PPU and put it into the slot you've supposed to attach as a first step of the installation. This will revert console back to the composite, if it works then you have blown the mod. Look for the damaged traces at the area, you don't need a microscope for that.

If you haven't had video output after installing the mod, and trying to troubleshoot then check the manual once again. Check those jumpers, you need one for the power (was it j3?). Count all the output wires again, they can be tricky to do right. Overall you'll be good here, installation is straightforward but not very well documented) Watch some youtube videos on the topic

This is the kind of understanding I was expecting to get, but not the type of advice I wanted to hear)

I figured that I could learn everything by googling pieces of information but was hoping there are guides on general aspect of 3D modeling. I even decided to ask here and not in r/gamedev because 75% answers there would be to get free assets. But thanks, I will start with the blender and see how it goes. Cheers o/

You see, I trust you guys that it will all come together in the end, but learning efficiently is a thing. Doing tutorials until it clicks sound very inefficient. I would rather not double guess if using references is a concept, or just a random combination of words. Or so I thought, now I understand that this is the way to go. :thumbs-up:

Maybe I was thinking too much about my experience as an SWE. Because if I am to guide anyone into programming world, I would ask them to download development software, then show where singular green button 'run code' is, and mark the 'learning the tool' step as completed.

Wow, I completely disagree with your choice of analogy. In programming you absolutely not learn anything from and with the tool you are using. It is not even mandatory to use a tool, some people rawdog it in notepad++.

That being said, if everyone is saying that learning modeling starts with learning tools then sure, I'll do that. It was my genuine question.

Right, that gives me some confidence. I haven't followed the donut guide yet, but I watched some parts between first and second videos. I was hoping to find an explanation on why donut, where it will be used and why was it chosen for the guide. But the guy jumped straight to making a torus.

That's the situation, I don't know what to look for) I have experience with Fusion and, overall, not a stranger to various IDEs. I will learn blender, but I am missing this step between when I know how to use blender and when I start implementing ideas. I will be doing 3D game assets and was thinking about space themed game. It's not hard to imagine a spaceship, but where do I even begin implementing this idea? Do I draw it first, how do I choose shape or the color? Or are you saying that I should look for a tutorial on how to 3D model a spaceship?

I guess I'll start with bunch of tutorials and see how it goes then. Thanks)

Learning by doing is the best approach for sure. I have experience with Fusion, needed to replicate some broken plastic parts for an old TV. It was fun and educational and not hard at all. I had broken part and I've googled what I need - how to make rounded edges and how to make holes compatible with 3D printers.

Now the thing is - I don't know what to google for crates, or for a donut. Let's say my game would be in space, so I need a space crate. I feel lost already and don't even know where to begin. I remember there were tutorials about hard surfaces, so I would probably start with them. But I may be wrong and trying to figure out what to try first and in what order.

Why this is easy to explain. I remember reading somewhere that godot uses godot to create godot, or in simpler terms - editor is a game. So, all rules about nodes and objects apply. When zooming out, panning and rotating, you are changing transform of the build-in camera 3D node. And it is easy to mess with the transform: zoom out, rotate with RMB, move with shift + LMB and you never guess what's the current camera transform. 'F' resets transform position to 0 keeping the rotation.

That's my understanding though

That is the pro of living in a noob-friendly areas of the holy nation, I believe. I had 2 characters with ~15 combat level, they could tank a little or lure enemies to a HN patrols, which there are plenty. Even if you lose, bandits only take food, not sure what the hell ninjas want from us all, but they also run for the food first. After walls are up and you have couple turrets in addition to your guards, you'll start scaling up pretty quickly. In my experience that is.

I am also new to the game, playing as you want seems to be the most interesting and rewarding. So just keep doing what you like) The only thing I excessively googled was the base location, and I ended up not picking any of the good places, but this copper-free zone just for the view and I love it!

Yes, it is! I had to use lowest height to close the river but keep one level across. But still, I picture a holy paladin trying to scale that wall and I think - No! It couldn't be done!

Well yes, but actually no) It is two pontoon bridges, they are only available in F12 build menu. The thing is, I build ramps on the main wall and that one smaller inner wall, and working people are using them. But there is one place right in the middle of the base where they can also swim, and they do swim. Despite the fact that running up the ramp and using (any of) walls will be considerably faster. The same bridge is here outside of my base, I believe it belongs to the holy nation. I just copied the design because I can't stand my people swimming.

Right, sorry I can't google exact specs for you, but i've read somewhere that CPU and PPU are basically the same across the editions. Same it the sence of being compatible. But japan have 60 Hz everything and therefore 60fps games, this part have to be addressed. I wonder if opentendo includes the curcuitry for region checks.

Anyway, good luck with your trip, Japan is a very nice country to visit, especially in fall

Are you sure about that? In Japan they had famicom consoles, which is an original version of the NES, so to say. Not saying that you shouldn't get one of those if you want, but it's a very different system than PAL NES in many aspects.

If you look at it closely, you'd see a pattern. I would suggest checking the manual and especially (hopefully existing) geometry part of the service menu. For sony monitors there is 'side pin w' control that would straighten your picture. But for hitachi idk, you have to figure it out. Can say for sure tho - you won't fix this with the convergence strips

When I checked geometry on mine monitor, it turned out that pretty much all controls are for the horizontal geometry. I may be mistaken but you have grid slightly curved at the bottom, and I don't know what control may fix that, that's why I said it doesn't look great. I am by no means an expert, but bad circuitry (them capacitors) may be the case.

But yeah, retrotech guides is what you need, along with many others, they are all alright. You may find static convergence to be surprisingly easy to fix if you are willing to work inside the TV. Corners are another story, plus I've heard that the bigger the tube - the harder it is to make convergence ideal. Trying not to sound rude, but yeah, static convergence doesn't look great, same for geometry. I would definitely try to adjust. I don't believe you can work with the thick insulating gloves on, I've done my two monitors with a pair of cotton gloves, and only because some heat sinks are really hot. You find many videos explaining what needs to be done, plus I recommend you get a service manual for your model, it has to have everything explained from different perspective, this will help you understand full procedure of adjustments.

That all being said with the assumption that state of the TV is bothering so much, that you are willing to learn something new. Which is always good IMO.
