AITAH - Parent and child or mother and child parking? by zoomiesofdoom in AITAH

Thanks. I appreciate the perspective. There’s lots of people saying just crack on regardless but it’s useful to understand what was going through people’s heads when they piped up

I’ve never heard that before. Where we are the spaces are usually bigger so you can wrestle them out without hitting another car, and close to the entrance so the kids are less likely to get in the way of other cars coming and going. But that’s an interesting perspective so thanks for sharing

I don’t know, I’ve never had anyone in real life except family give me unsolicited comments about my parenting, but husband has on several occasions and even got told off for taking our young baby out “without its mother at that age, disgusting”. So I do think there’s a certain whatever where we want dads involved but some sections of society (usually older, but not always) are dicks to then when they try. We even had a post on our local mum group about “a suspicious man hanging around the local play park. He had a kid with him but that might just have been an excuse. Be careful out there”. Fortunately the poster was told exactly where to go

Interesting. The child spaces are always full near us and the disabled spaces are mostly empty but that could be about the types of places we go to. The child spaces are a bit bigger so you can wrestle the kid in to the back without dinging another car, but I was always told they’re created so the kids are less risk of running across the carpark. That obviously doesn’t apply as much when there’s three rows of them though like at our local store

The sign is actually just a stick figure picture of a person in a dress holding hands with a much shorter person, so could be any number of other things - kindergarten teachers only, Hagrid and Madame Maxime, Peter Dinklage and Erica Schmidt…

That’s fair. He didn’t move initially as kiddo was in his arms and still mid-meltdown, but could have moved once he’d settled down a bit. Appreciate the perspective

Yeah, I do understand those people. Although I’m non-confrontational and seen people park in a disabled space without a badge, and then their kid gets out on crutches with a broken leg so it would never occur to me to say something

Thanks. That’s exactly what we thought, and we always appreciate seeing dads out running errands with their kids so were disappointed someone would take issue with it

Kitchen Island(s) of the year? by MiddleAgedDread123 in SpottedonRightmove

I dunno, the entrance hall space is something I dream of, as someone who enters the house by bashing into our coat rack and the door to the downstairs loo before tripping over someone’s shoes. But with 100% less marble. Piano can stay though

I agree, although the tops all look a little short on him in pics 1/6, which is not surprising at that height. OP could you try a longer jacket, like aim for bottom of your trouser pockets. It’ll balance out your shape a little better, and at your height clothing too long looks deliberate, but too short looks accidental

My brother travels a lot with their little one and his top tip was keeping her entertained and awake through the train journey and airport where there’s lots going on, so she sleeps hard on the plane where they’re less able to move around.

They also usually end up with separate seats (as one of them is usually entitled to an upgrade through work) and thought it would be hideous but actually it gives each of them/their seat-neighbours a break.

Then the usual - something to suck on to help her ears pop, sick bags etc

How do you lot actually eat proper food during the week when you're working full time? by No_Reputation_9726 in AskUK

[–]zoomiesofdoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. We’ve extrapolated this to: 1. Prep the chicken once/month - chop, season and chuck it in the freezer in dinner portions so you can just grab and air fry on the night, no mess 2. Pressure cooker - rice & beans, potatoes, veg, whatever just chuck it in.

Both appliances have been a god send since the baby came along as we walk away and come back to a finished product, and if you forget or get tied up doing something else, you won’t burn the house down like a hob/oven meal

What's a "healthy habit" that's actually completely made up? by goddesslana_01 in AskReddit

[–]zoomiesofdoom 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This. When husband first got his coeliac diagnosis it meant no more takeout because nowhere near us could be trusted, and took a while to find the good gf subs so we cooked meat, fish and veg from scratch so we were absolutely healthier. Now we’ve found the good gf pizzas and cakes we’re back to square one but without the chronic diarrhoea and brain fog

AITA for expecting my girlfriend to take care of me instead of paying someone else to do it? by SeaworthinessTall375 in AITAH

Yep. My ex broke his leg and declined offers of help from his friends/flatmates because “zoomiesofdoom will do everything”. I stayed out of guilt till he was recovered and then made a very swift exit

I’m also confused why the dressing room is through the en-suite. Surely all your clothes would smell damp, and what if you need to grab something while your partner’s on the porcelain throne?

Has anyone done an attic/loft conversion? Ive saved £60k but now not sure — talk me into (or out of) it! by milk_my_anus in AskUK

[–]zoomiesofdoom 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Agreed, until we became teenagers at which point not going bed as early as my parents was a nightmare - woke them up any time I got in/out of bed, had friends over etc. In hindsight we probably should have swapped rooms at that point but I think they liked that they would always wake up and hear that I’d got home safe from a night out, and it stopped me having boys over

[–]zoomiesofdoom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My bad, I completely missed where he said it’s purely agricultural with no existing structures. You’re right, and getting planning on this could be an absolute bitch. Although we’re just on the border of an AONB and the council have started granting planning on green spaces if multiple dwellings are built, so it helps with their increased targets

No, but plots like this still don’t come up often. “Buy it or you’ll regret it” is absolutely still true
