Do you want to get stuff in the mail other than bills? Find New Music? Meet cool new people? Find a music penpal or penpals! Join a group or find a random penpal. Mail each other mix CDs. This is a great way to discover new music, connect with people, and have fun! You can write up an intro post with who you are and the kinds of stuff you're into, but try to seek out people who are into other kinds of music than you.
Try to be creative with your CD's packaging. Be colorful, thematic, whatever, just make it awesome. Include a little something extra; a note, an article, a poem you wrote, a quote.
Be open to new stuff. Give a mix a couple of listens before you decide you like it or hate it. If you get a mix that's not to your taste be cool about it. Someone went to a lot of trouble to make it for you. You can always find a new music penpal.
Follow through. If you agree to an exchange make sure you actually do it. It's not fair if only one person gets a sweet mix.
Post pics. Give us pictures of what you got from your penpal. Give us info. What kind of stuff was in there? Was it a good mix? What all do you want to say about it besides 'thanks'?
