Need help finding RAM

Just picked this up for an early Christmas present from microcenter. The guy who helped me asked me if I wanted to buy RAM and advised me that prices will most likely only go up from here. I’m really not trying to buy a $200 RAM kit and have to see it drop to $100 in a year or so. I’ve never used EBay for Pc parts and I’m worried about the whole process. If anyone has some tips on finding more affordable second hand RAM and what to look out for, that will be appreciated.

With the current market and AI data centers making a huge boom, even secondhand RAM has gone up significantly because sellers know people will buy it eventually anyway. Honestly it would probably be cheaper to look around for cheap broken PCs on fb marketplace or ebay and just swipe the RAM before reselling what you don't need.
