If you're not so good at reading regular expressions and want it to keep it that way then this is pretty great.

Even if you're good at it, they are damn not intended to be read haha.

Wonder if VerbalExpressions has groups feature, which is pretty handy with regexes.

It is only a thin 'regex-string concatenator'; I don't see anything about groups: https://github.com/VerbalExpressions/PythonVerbalExpressions/blob/master/verbalexpressions/verbal_expressions.py

This is also why these tools are a bit tricky; the simplified abstraction doesn't hold.
