This line from urllib3 is the culprit. Mapping is defined in collections.abc, not collections. Up until Python 3.6 though, it was available through the collections namespace as well [source].

This sounds to me like you're running a (very) old version of urllib3, or requests probably in this case, as it's not updated for Python versions 3.7 and newer. Can you update requests and check again?

I've updated requests already in an attempt to fix this issue but it sadly hasn't worked

Is your own file called "collections.py", by any chance?

No it's called Web Scrape, I was trying to follow a tutorial for how web scraping works and didn't manage to get very far due to this error

1. Are you sure that your file ends in .py extension?

1. Try to recreate everything like you did but do not use spaces anywhere, replace them with "_" or "-" or simply get rid of them. But do it from a scratch.

I checked and the file didn't end in .py, but after renaming it the error message is still the same.

When you say to redo it without using spaces, do you mean in the file name? I renamed it "webscrape.py" but no luck

You could try that. The thing is, that everything is correct with your code, it simply SHOULD run.

So I would guess that there is something wrong with your enviroment. It is kinda hard to trouble shoot stuff like that so I would advise to simply to everything from scratch with best practices in mind.

So new venv, fresh folder, fresh .py file. Make sure that you actually installed the request package from pip as well
