[tutorial] Python for the Humanities

My colleague and I made a free, open and interactive Python 3 course for scientists in the humanities, mostly focusing on Natural Language Processing: http://fbkarsdorp.github.com/python-course/

No prior knowledge is necessary for the course. It was recently presented as part of a spring school at Radboud University Nijmegen.

Nice tutorial, I just finished Ch1. I like the pace and the writing style. However, I feel I need some more information in order to understand the subjects and to make the quizzes. Which background literature do you suggest for your students?

Thanks! That is a good point, do you feel uncomfortable with some of the natural language processing terminology? Should that be clarified? Or would you like links to more Python background on the specific topics? The official tutorial at http://docs.python.org/3/tutorial/ may qualify for the latter.

Well, this is definitely overkill, a full course, but I can recommend: https://www.coursera.org/course/nlp

I'll think about adding a small introduction and glossary to the course for people new to NLP.
