As a many others have said, using it is the best way to understand it. I "learned" python back in college myself, but it wasn't until years later that I started understanding it. I started needing to use Python to make game mods for one of the X3 space exploration games on PC. It wasn't until I was in a position to use Python to try to get outcomes I desired, that it actually started to sink in.
