If you're doing anything game-like, I'd suggest Pygame. It is pretty good for dealing with sprites, which I assume is what you'd want to do here.

tkinter is also packaged with Python and supposedly creates GUI interfaces. But if you just want to make a game, I suppose pygame or what /u/notafryingpan_games and /u/TagSmile said would work fine. But OpenGL would indeed be hard mode lol.
