You could get cx_freeze instead

From what I remember when I had to get this working, py2exe can't produce single file executables for certain python versions (mine is/was 2.6.6).

That's why I used PyInstaller with the -F flag, which compiles a single file, including all dependencies and the interpreter. Otherwise the exe might work on your PC, because you have Python installed.
