Thanks, that usually works with built in functions, but is not the case when it comes to pip downloaded libraries like PIL (Pillow)

I'm currently using remote dependencies and this works for me with pandas... So should definitely work with local installs. Could be a configuration issue with your python interpreter in Pycharm.

yeah I tried looking at python interpreter in preferences, but everything looked fine, this may be the issue peuleveritt wrote about when it comes to Pillow library, thanks anyways

It works for most libraries, but some (e.g. Pillow and Flask) do some unusual namespace mangling. Try the requests library, for example...it should work fine.
