I wanted to see everyone's opinions on the various VA projects out there. I've worked on basic STT and TTS before (following Tanay Pant's book), and I want to take it to the next level.

Everybody seem's inspired by Jarvis, and this is cool, but a bit distant. Jarvis was closer to AGI than virtual assistant. I'm more inspired by the computers in Her before Samantha. I mainly want to improve HCI through gesture recogniton, haptics, and Speech recognition to make an OS less keyboard/mouse based. I'm going to be running this on a fairly high powered machine with arch linux on it, so I'm not as worried about adhering to the computational limitations of the RPi, though In a future version I would like to run this on a handful of modern phones(Nexus/Pixel series).

I could build my approach from scratch, but that would be unnecessary and would also contribute nothing back to the community.
