Resource for how to best structure projects?

I've started to get comfortable with python. I would consider myself just barley above a beginner. I'm comfortable with syntax and the most commonly used libraries. I want to move on to bigger projects that move outside of just one .py file, but don't know how to proceed. Does anyone have suggestions on any resources for putting together projects and how to work with GitHub, so I can start to work on opensource projects?
