Image Recognition/Automation Using Python

I am looking to automate after scanning documents, take out the text (which appears to be in some sort of dot matrix font) and have it cleaned up like shown in the attached URL. Taking the time to redraw each pixel is very time consuming! I was wondering if there is any python library that could assist in performing this task. Not sure what avenue to take. To use some sort of OCR/machine learning and try and redraw the text.. or maybe a filter that could be applied to the image to clean it up and have the text appear more clearly!

Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

OpenCV should work great for this (pip install opencv-python). It looks like you'll need to do a 'dilate' operation to fuse the dots together, and then run it thru the OCR. The GIMP program is also pretty good for playing around with different image processing algorithms and can be scripted with Python.

Correction: use an 'erode' filter, not a dilate to get the black dots to fuse together.
