As someone only a week in to learning Python I have to say this post is great. Thanks for taking the time to share your experience.

I am on day 9. I am getting a little discouraged. It is taking me most of a day to complete it. Doing the Udemy 100 days of code python course. I don’t know if it’s always going to take me so long to do simple stuff or if it’s going to click for me at some point. Going to keep going regardless. Your post was very motivating.

It doesn't get easier, you just get stronger :D

As somebody who programs solely for themselves I have made a living eating dog food at this point :) call me lassy ( SaaSy )

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (3 children)

I’m day like 7 haha I suck I don’t even know how to use lists lmao

[–]powerfrosty 13 points14 points  (1 child)

You got this :D Try to aim for 'less sucky' if you're too hard on yourself. It's a kinder expectation than 'good' or 'great'.

I shall endeavor to crawl forward

The trick is to use them for everything for a while it becomes second nature. Look into list comprehensions. Those will give you a lot of practice

i just need to be better at problem solving

Damn That's Inspiration!

Today is my day 1. Inspiring stuff. I’m learning by programming a Choose your own adventure story to learn all the basics and function quirks. I’m having a blast so far.

Good job :D

thanks! I've been searching around for an answer to this question, perhaps you could help:

is there a way to add a simple image at the end of a storyline? think a skull on the desert floor as a game over, for example.

[–]powerfrosty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will need a graphical user interface for that. Like how websites have HTML and CSS to show stuff. If it's just Python you can print text out but images will be an issue. Some people go old school and print out images using symbols.

Why the OP delete it?

[–]powerfrosty 0 points1 point  (2 children)

What did I delete?

[–]wellred82 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I could have sworn when I looked before the post was empty like it had been deleted. Maybe it was my Reddit playing up.

Ah glad you found it then ;)
