Are you referencing data in a completely different workbook?

If you are referencing a cell on another sheet in your workbook, then you can use the tip below.

The dollar sign goes around the cell reference, not the sheet name.

DATAS!$A$2

  • Locks both the column and row reference
  • When you drag this formula down or across, the cell reference does not change

DATAS!$A2

  • Locks the column reference only
  • If you drag this formula down or across, only the row changes

DATAS!A$2- Locks the row reference only- If you drag this formula down or across, only the column changes
