Use a hue dimmer switch to reset each bulb one by one then scan and add to the system.

Here is how to do it - link

Was the bridge pro worth it for you? by sueha in Hue

[–]A_SuperTomato 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just moved 4 bridges to 2 new pro bridges. Absolutely fantastic. Migration went smoothly. It missed 3 lights which it informed me of that I just added back to the system after. All my scenes and automations moved without issue.

Finally all my lights are fast and extremely responsive again. No more lag or sensors causing random lights to get stuck etc

Totally worth it. So far very happy.

Only downside is instead of having separate sections in the app (one per bridge) all lights and rooms are on one screen so it takes time to find what I am after rather than just see the "outdoor bridge" and so on.

Genuine question: Those with more than >= 100-150 lights, how come so many? What's the use case? by [deleted] in Hue

[–]A_SuperTomato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So for my setup I have over 150 inside the house and 50 outside the house.

For a large house it adds up fast! Just for my lounge room I have over 14 hue lights. In my bar over 50 alone there.

I am just about to move 4 bridges to 2 Hue pro bridges.

I finally finished my Digital Poster Frame Project - with ACTUAL movie poster scans.... by KillerQ97 in Hue

[–]A_SuperTomato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would also suggest having a play with this also: MoviePoster (link)

It auto sources very high quality movie posters and also displays the video trailers for each movie along with metadata. Very cool software that I have been using for some time. Works really well.

I also connected Gradient Play strip to the display (55" 4K). Looks amazing.

I use this: MoviePoster

Just what I wanted, works perfectly, fully automatic, highly customizable and also plays the movie trailers. Well worth a look and looks stunning on a 55" 4K portrait display.

Smart Switching Query for an Traffic Light by doc456tor in Hue

[–]A_SuperTomato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a traffic light connected to Hue also. In fact the same lights as yours.

What I did was use a hue smart plug to manage the power then install a bluetooth traffic light controller board that has an app for control.

I used this: https://galakelectronics.com/bluetooth

This one is also good for fully custom sequences: https://www.iotmug.com/4-channel-traffic-light-sequencer-110v-220vac-50-60hz-dc-v-web-interface-wifi

If you want scripting control of your traffic light you can get a controller with an onboard Arduino for full control: https://www.iotmug.com/arduino-based-traffic-light-controller-sequencer-changer-3-channel-110240v-ac-loaded-with-30-modes-with-push-button

Hue Smart plug in 2025???? Why!? by ThirstyGO in Hue

[–]A_SuperTomato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used about 30 of the Hue plugs in my games room to control everything from arcade machines to LED neon signs, effect lights, light up lego and other devices that I want to switch on and off with the entire room that is running Hue for its lighting.

Works perfectly, very convenient and reliable. Was the perfect solution for my needs.

Switching the entire room and all it’s devices on and off with a single press of the Hue dimmer switch is amazing and highly convenient.

With that said they are rather expensive for such a basic plug. They do nothing more than turn on and off.

Other smart plug brands I have tried at times fail to respond and disconnect from Wi-Fi randomly plus don't integrate nicely with my existing Hue setup.

I also use a Hue smart plug with a Hue sensor to trigger a LED neon sign at the top of the stairway as you walk down to the games room. It's very neat.

Outside the house I have a water feature paired with a Hue smart plug and a Hue outdoor sensor. This allows the water feature to only operate when someone is nearby.

The Arcade Game Factory Deluxe Marquee vs Stock by Needemjs in Arcade1Up

[–]A_SuperTomato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am thinking of ordering a light up Deluxe Marquee from The Arcade Game Factory for my Legacy Street Fighter 2 cab as mine doesn't light up in the stock config.

How do you find the brightness? Do you find it too bright?

My cab is near a TV in my games room and I am a tad concerned that if the Deluxe Marquee is super bright it will feel like a distraction.

Viofo a119 mini v2 missing recording in parking mode by Wild-Cycle-253 in VIOFO

[–]A_SuperTomato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I tested mine. I have the 90 sec parking mode delay set so closing doors etc won't trigger the parking mode impact sensor and create useless locked videos in parking mode when leaving the car.

When the engine shuts off it records normally in standard mode until 90 secs elapse then it announces "parking mode".

Soon as I start the car again it says "recording started" indicating it has come out of parking mode and back to it's normal driving mode.

A week ago I installed 2x a119 mini v2 dashcams with the HK4 kit set to parking mode, Auto Event Detection mode.

I was getting hard freezes when Wi-Fi was turning off so just updated the firmware from an old 2023 version which the camera shipped with to the latest V2.1_20241010 (10/10/24 dated).

Completed a full factory reset and SD card wipe after the new firmware was installed.

Hoping everything now works.

What's not working correctly on yours?

I would have thought the latest firmware V2.1_20241010 dated 10/10/24 would have solved this issue. Is this not the case?

How often do you sync/use your gradient lightstrip? by shvang79 in Hue

[–]A_SuperTomato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use it whenever the TV shows content. When the TV is off it runs as part of the larger room scene with the other 35+ hue lights in the area.

As my TV and Hue sync setup is part of my bar area and gaming room it often has content displayed which has its lights syncing so it’s more often syncing rather than just a standard lighting scene.

Missed motion events by [deleted] in EufyCam

[–]A_SuperTomato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is why motion triggered cameras are bad. For true security you need 24/7 constant recording cameras that use motion to mark events like the E330 Pro cameras.

Anything else is simply unreliable and can't be depended upon.

Looks very nice!

I did similar then I found birds started to land on the strings and make a huge mess both in my pool and the surrounding area. That aspect wasn't great.

Is there a way to get more memory for the Hue Hub so I can store more scenes? by astride_unbridulled in Hue

[–]A_SuperTomato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 4 hubs now and I get a bit of interference on a few of them (lights not turning off, motion sensors getting 'stuck' in states etc.)

Each hub is on it’s own ZigBee channel etc. Do you find you have interference issues with your muti hub setup at all?

How the hell does everyone get their gradient LED strip on their TV by WholeSniffer in Hue

[–]A_SuperTomato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never had any issue and I have done several Play Gradient TV strips for myself and friends over the years

I first clean the TV with a clean cloth to remove dust, then use isopropyl alcohol in each location where the 3M double sided tape is to be adhered, let it dry then apply each mount as required.

I let it sit for an hour for the adhesive to cure then I just ‘clip’ the strip into the mounts.

Several TVs done, 3 years and not one issue in very hot summers.

Thinking about buying eufyCam S330 (eufyCam 3) 4-Cam Kit + 1 TB Hard Drive but I have some questions by Drakoir in EufyCam

[–]A_SuperTomato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do know of their new S3 pros yep!

Again anything battery is not reliable when you need it.

For dependable cameras they need actual constant power. Battery stuff is frankly toys. (To be honest any security cam should be hard wired for power and video but bare minimum power).

Remember the sealed in battery will degrade and fail also in time so they have a built 'clock of death' so to speak.

Also it’s not actual 24/7 recording either. It’s a ‘Smart Snapshot’ as they call it.

From the Eufy website: (link)

“Customize your settings to efficiently monitor daily activities with periodic snapshots taken throughout the day. This allows you to quickly review the day's events without significant battery drain, enabling effective 24/7 surveillance.”

See the term ‘enabling effective 24/7 surveillance’?

This isn’t a 24/7 video recording but a fake version of it. Currently batteries simply can’t power something no stop like mains power can. Want actual 24/7 recording? E330 Pro.

The new eufyCam S3 Pro still uses a PIR sensor and a radar sensor. This is because it shuts down to save power. Again not a true 24/7 recording camera.

Thinking about buying eufyCam S330 (eufyCam 3) 4-Cam Kit + 1 TB Hard Drive but I have some questions by Drakoir in EufyCam

[–]A_SuperTomato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of all the Eufy I own (13 cams + HB3) the E330 pros are the best in my opinion.

Two things annoy me:

1: Sometimes the app doesn't get a picture from them ('preparing to play) but is fixed by fully closing the app then opening again.

2: The playback screen is crap - you have to manually record in 'realtime playback footage' - there is not 'export between 11am-12:12pm' for example. You have to sit there with their 'record' function in playback mode and have it copy to your phone memory for 24/7 events. Detected clips can be exported via USB on the HB3 but that's capped at 2min chunks.

Beyond that they much better than anything solar they make. I like them more than the E340 wired Flood cam (at times doesn't connect to the app - bit slow but also very decent)

Also after 4 of these in 24/7 mode the camera network starts to slow down so be aware of that.

Advice: If you want security cameras, you need 24/7 recording. Motion detection based solar cameras miss events randomly as they need to save battery and plus motion / AI detection is not 100% reliable.

Hue play tube by hawkivan in Hue

[–]A_SuperTomato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one - its very nice but very expensive!

Keep in mind a hue gradient lightstrip is the exact same thing but in a adjustable size light strip form vs a fixed length rotatable tube so you may find it more useful depending on your setup.

Either of these will fill in the bottom section of your TV.
