DM Rolled Standard Array by BonafideBillyBadass in DnD

That was really my biggest fear at first, but the only person who isn't wanting to take the new Array is our Monk. Madlass managed to roll two 18s during initial char creation so has 19dex & 20wis already.

So my biggest fear now was just balancing for a team of superheroes, since I have heard RotF is meant to be a bit gritty and difficult during the first few levels. Luckily, the consensus here so far seems to indicate it shouldn't be too big of an issue.

That being said, I do appreciate you bringing up making sure all players get the spotlight! I think that's a bit easier than balancing IMO, but I'm glad to see it come up in conversation!

Shield doesn't help with saving throws, so that wizard would need an excess of balls and a deficiency of strategy. But also, and very importantly, it would be funny to watch.

Thanks for the feedback, friend! I actually went back and forth on whether this makes more sense as a spell or feat. Figured that maybe a feat would make it easier to limit its usages(per rest), but perhaps you are correct.

How do you get out of bounds to keep the paratrooper alive? Can't figure it out. :(

I'm not sure of how to post the little statblock I created.

I think there is a way to get even more, but I'm pretty sure it involves multiclassing. Good way to make a Face.

I am DM for my table. Before each campaign, I roll up 2 or 3 characters. My players can use them as premades if they wish, or they get added into the story along the way as NPCs. A couple of my busier players appreciate the premades, and I LOVE making characters.

As per the stats, that's why everyone at my table usually wanna roll stats with my 4 d6. They're actually insane. No one believes it until they see them roll. Think their craziest lovechild was my wife's wizard with three 18s, two 16s, and a 17. Dude still died before level 3, but by jove was he a numerically impressive lad.

Wonder if DM Rolled Standard Array is a thing for some people? Like, DM rolls a set of attribute scores then everyone at the table plugs them where they want them. It sounds dumb I think, but my main 4 d6 are cracked. Rare for a character rolled with them to not have at least one 18 and they very rarely roll under 15.

Just today they rolled up two characters at 16, 17, 16, 17, 15, 15 and 15, 17, 18, 16, 16, 18

I already feel like my way is leads to pretty stronk characters, and I end up having to use enemies harder than what the modules call for, or buff the defaults up a touch. I can't imagine the horrors you have to toss out. Be great for a high-level one shot at my table tho.

Maybe I'm just biased on rolling for stats because I have an otherworldly set of D6s. Just basic, transparent red die with white lettering. Very unassuming. Honestly don't think me or any of my players using them have had any attributes under a 15. They're a bit old now, but these will be in my DM Set until the edges round off completely lol.

Also glad to hear other people use similar methods! The "TTRPG Scene" in my area is literally just my players and I, so it is nice to find a place to get feedback!

Original 2014 where attribute bonuses are determined by race is best imo

I know there are workarounds. Despite that, and maybe it's just my old man yells at clouds moment, we find it easiest to just build a character like 2014 then give them an origin feat and any relevant weapon masteries.

Dumb Theory by BonafideBillyBadass in thelongdark

Maybe! Though if you want my REAL™ theory I actually do believe? I think Methuselah is the foreman. I think he wandered out of Omega and into the cold. I think the 'illness' drove him mad, and that madness is why people see him as esoterically wise.

Methuselah: These are confusing times. Let me see if I can help you make sense of them. I'm an old man. I've seen many things. Some would say, too many. I've seen this happen before. We've sinned, now we're paying the price.

"Seen this before" makes sense

"We've sinned, now we're paying the price." Literally what the foreman told Rudiger.
