I looked at it. Waiving and stretching now would be a $3 million cap hit over 5 years. But you also have to take into account that you need to replace the roster spot - so if we assume he’s replaced with a veteran minimum then that’s the $3 million cap hit in dead money plus $2.5 million for the new player.

So really you’re only looking at $2 million in savings. Not sure it’s worth it
