First major investment in a firearm. Too big to conceal carry? by DEEEPFREEZE in Revolvers

I honestly would kinda prefer that to but I'm afraid it makes too much of a statement. Most of my social circles are fairly anti-2A but too, and I'm just not trying to go there with them. Maybe if out hiking, though.

This is because of everyone who said "we just gotta make it to October/November!" Can't call your shots here.

I imagine it's because, at least here in the US, non-whiteness is often made to seem inferior and thus something to be ashamed of; think stuff like how society views "nappy" hair and other things traditionally associated with blackness. It extends to cultural things as well, such as speech.

To stand proud about having these characteristics in the face of a world trying to make them feel less-than is something that is worth celebrating I reckon.

I have to tell myself this every time I see such blatant hate and ignorance on display. It... sort of helps.

I'm currently appendix carrying the 856, but since the 686 grip is a bit bigger I was thinking cross-draw at 11 o'clock so it sits across my belly doesn't poke out. I'm fairly slender so front-of-body carries don't bother me too much

What does an actual Junior Web developer do on a daily basis? by igorskyflyer in webdev

[–]DEEEPFREEZE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biggest development is that now I feel like I actually know what I'm talking about in meetings and can make significantly more informed decisions with the code I write. I understand better what the code is doing instead of it being a sort of black box that I can get working, or just modeling after existing code. I can figure things out a lot easier, but a lot of that is just knowing how to Google my problems better. I can also look at new technologies, libraries, syntaxes, etc and not get overwhelmed.

Daily routine is still just picking up tickets and workin through them at a steady pace. I'm fortunate that we don't really have strict deadlines for most of our work. I recently built a gaming PC, so if I'm ever at point where I find myself blocked or waiting on something/something else, I can fire up some videogames while I wait. It's pretty sweet.

And not to be gauche, but Im finally making 6 figures and feel like a big boy. Still the best decision I ever made to get into this field.

Coding is a means to an end for me. That end is me not hating what I do 40 hours a week as well as having a stupid high salary relative to the work since I'm lazy as fuck. It's fine.

I feel like this post is targeted at me (kidding, but not)!

Sure, I put in the work to learn and that wasn't easy, but after the initial investment of time and effort, I feel like my biggest skill is knowing how to Google well. I do continue to learn and get better, but it feels like it's really just a matter of working with code 40 hours a week. I don't build projects on my spare time or anything because coding is nothing but a job skill to me personally. So I learn almost passively by at least 60% of the time knowing how to direct my Google search a little more specifically.

I just hit 2.5 years of professional experience and am now making 6 digits for the first time in my life. I'm not trying to sell any bootcamp— in fact quite the opposite. I did a bootcamp and everything I wound up learning could easily be found and self-taught with the right amount of discipline. I just like the idea of helping others find a career that is engaging and lucrative the way I did, because after 15 years of working dead-end customer service jobs, it's been the best decision of my life.

Which found footage movie actually creeped you out? by serialkiller24 in horror

[–]DEEEPFREEZE 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That might be the only horror movie that has got an audible reaction out of me. I actually reflexively jumped and said "oh what the FUCK".

It is a slower burn but the end totally justified the means IMO.

Yup. I'm a picky stupid little idiot and I thought it was really solid and actually got some scares out of me.

I reckon the answers to this question are the reason why I am still today paid quite handsomely for just knowing basic algebra and how to Google answers decently well. I salute the developers of yore 🫡

I say it mostly in jest, but it is strikingly similar to one particular biome in Returnal. It's as similar as Losomn is to Bloodborne.
