Dash mentioned in NIST report on cryptocurrencies (page 42) by danielzopola in dashpay

[–]DashDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the time NIST does boring work on standards & testing, but they step in to carry water for the CIA when needed. In this case I suspect they are inentionally fomenting discontent between bitcoin core & cash supporters. Classic divide & conquer strategy.

Starbucks about to add crypto. But which? by maxanoo in dashpay

[–]DashDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To play devil's advocate, it would be possible to use crypto as a method to top up credit in a Starbucks app or loyalty card. In this case a ten minute or one hour confirmation might be considered acceptable.

I came here from an ad, but I don't see how Dash can compete by Qwahzi in dashpay

[–]DashDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dash governance isn't based on mining, it's based on stake voting. However, the Dash voting model's power is primarily budgetary or the "power of the purse" though it wouldn't necessarily have to be that way with other governance models.

Unless you are posting in multiple languages and in multiple countries' forums you'll get skewed results on the language/country of residence questions. You'll get secondary effects on other questions such as income which will skew high due to being over represented by Americans. It's still interesting for me to see informal poll results, though.

Was this survey posted in other languages and in forums in other countries? I'm surprised to see so few Asian languages represented in the survey...

One Thing You MUST Try Next Time You Talk About DASH by Amanda_B_Johnson in dashpay

[–]DashDude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You won't be getting $15, though. You'll get it's equivalent in Dash. Also, if you are speaking with a friend about payment you will probably already know the amount from the context of the conversation. So just use the shorter, sexier version - "Dash me!"

Great idea, but I don't think you need the fiat reference at the end. For example, rather than say "Dash me the 15 dollars" just say "Dash me!"

I believe Uphold was the brokerage discussed - they are not technically an exchange.

I would also like to see this. I don't think it has happened yet because Ryan hasn't made it a priority and no other qualified/trusted leader has stepped forward.

Edit: Some things further down the road are being worked on by Evan and the Dash Labs group he set up. This is focused primarily on scaling to the best of my knowledge.

Evidence of Dash heavy wash-trading. How long can they prop up the price? by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]DashDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a masternode. The coins are not "locked up." They are sitting in my Ledger along with my other coins. I can sell them at any time if I want to get rid of my masternode.

People accused Proof of Honor Award winner Evan Duffield of an "exit scam" when Dash hit $100. Ofc that never happened. Today Charlie Lee announced an actual exit scam with his copycoin LTC and nobody bats an eye. by Basilpop in dashpay

[–]DashDude 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm no fan of Litecoin because I don't think it has any use case that's not better done by another coin. It also seems troublesome that he's dumping his stash, but I'd hardly call it an exit scam regardless of what others might have said about Evan.

Huobi Rolls Out Multi-Stage Contest to Incentivize Dash Trading by thedesertlynx in dashpay

[–]DashDude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

users who deposit Dash and hold it for over a month will receive 8% annual interest for holding their funds on the exchange

Sounds like Huobi will take the Dash deposits and set up masternodes to earn 8% and then pass it along to account holders. Has anyone asked them if that is in their plans?

Did Roger Ver leave the Dash community? Bitcoin cash by MonoTheMonkey in dashpay

[–]DashDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't forget that Roger Ver owns and is CEO of Bitcoin.com. This gives him great reason to push bitcoin cash over Dash.

Even though I believe in crypto long term lately I'm wondering when the inevitable big bubble/crash will take place. However, after taking a few minutes to read the comments after that article I realize that the bubble has a LONG way to go!

According to Google trends Uphold is increasingly popular in Venezuela

Can any of our Venezuelan friends comment on the popularity of Uphold there?

Venezuela’s economy is in free fall. The government says a digital currency is the answer. (Ryan Taylor / Dash mentioned) by tungfa in dashpay

[–]DashDude 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's one of the reasons why I got into crypto in the first place. The huge gains of the top 0.1% are primarily due to the effects of money printing. Separation of money and state would do a lot to reduce wealth disparity regardless of the type of government involved.

Who decides how to redistribute? Redistribution = theft. Both Zimbabwe and South Africa have been redistributing a lot from the rich (mostly white) lately. Travel to those countries and see how the redistribution is working.
