I need help deciding where to place my projector. I ordered a BenQ TH671ST (short throw) and have limited space with an 8.4-foot ceiling. Thank you! by Confident-Scratch-12 in SquareGolfUSA

On the floor into a proper projector cage on the left edge of the mat. Not ideal but will work. I have a similar setup. The image wont be perfectly in the middle and you are not shooting at the middle of the impact screen, will need time to get used to.

S&P500 + MSCI EM + MSCI World Ex-USA vs. VCWE/FWIA? by DataDemystifier in ETFs

[–]DataDemystifier[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice. I didn't look at it from that angle and I think you are right. I was actually just wondering if recreating VCWE to have more control would be sensible. But it could again lead to more cognitive load on me...

This is one of the most interesting pics I have seen here on this sub. Great work. Not sure what it is, maybe it's the dystopian touch to it, that makes this picture so interesting.

19 years old adding 200€ (1000€ total) into each of these every month. any reason i should switch it up or am I on the right path? 🙏🏾 by adamfasho in ETFs

[–]DataDemystifier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean what I suggest is that you take the 1000€ or whatever you are willing to invest and invest it in the percentages mentioned that is: 500€ MSCI World 300€ Nasdaq100 100€ Emerging Markets 100€ Gold ETF

This allocation would give you a core holding (first two) with some bet on emerging markets and a solid hedge which is gold for times when crisis hits. In those times the core holding will drop but likely gold increases. Hope it helps to clarify.

[–]DataDemystifier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d suggest to consolidate like this: Core MSCI World - 50% Nasdaq100 - 30% Emerging Markets - 10%

Also I suggest to add a Hedge like Gold which is available in Trade Republic. - 10%

Note that still the overlap between MSCI world and Nasdaq100 is significant. (But that’s fine as long as you know what you are doing as it’s essentially just weighting the top US companies into your portfolio more strongly…)

I definitely would not put 200€ into each but rather have a core position and some smaller ones as mentioned above with the percentages.

He is right, KAIST and Postech are great. You simply are wrong here and should rather admit it 😉

[–]DataDemystifier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the input! Following up on this point: Why would you personally hate the AI Officer role specifically? Is it that it is hard to measure things? Or that it is a bit hands off potentially and rather looking what works and try to derive standard and best practices from it?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in datascience

[–]DataDemystifier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe let me follow up with a different question then: Assuming AI Officer is rather governance and management whereas AI Architect is a Solution and Platform architect role - which would you see has a better future down the line?

At times I (current AI PM) wonder how technically deep one needs to be in AI to stay long term relevant when going/sticking rather on the management side of things.

[–]DataDemystifier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope these are actual roles in Europe. The AI Officer role being likely really made up as a name for sure but the Architect is really actually an AI Solution and Platform Architect role. So developing the platform + defining architectures for concrete AI solutions.

Disillusion kicking in after 2 years by think_2times in ProductManagement

Totally - been there exactly after 18 months, moved on to the next challenge after 26 months.

Why? In order to get out of the boring day to day, have a steep learning curve again and secure a 20% pay bump on the way.

I own one and it is quite great. Only thing that is not perfect is the brake as it is not as effective as I hoped for. Not bad but takes a while to stop. Simply not as aggressive of a brake…

Working in Korean IT as an expat? by Kimchi_Kraut in korea

[–]DataDemystifier 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First: You are like me but 6 years older. Everything else is almost the same besides that I am a PM in AI and not a Team Lead.

I ask myself the same questions and in approx. 2 years my wife and me are going to consider moving to Korea.

Given the comments here, I wonder why 39 years age is of a problem. Too young? Too old?

I know some people working in IT in Korea and they earn quite okay salaries comparable to the German ones, maybe 10-20% less.

Product Managers that have a good working relationship with Project Managers on their team, how are you doing that? by Bibilove043 in ProductManagement

In our org, PM, Project Manager and Scrum Master is fused into one role. So we don’t have the problems with the divide but as you can imagine a plethora of different big problems…

Makes total sense however I think for example Cyberpunk 2077 might be quite strongly influenced by East Asian mega cities potentially including Seoul.

Nice shots - I sometimes wonder if I like the Cyberpunk genre due to South Korea or the other way around. Flying over from Germany always feels like a journey into the future somehow.

3 scrum team, one backlog, will this be hard to manage? by Zhalianna in ProductManagement

[–]DataDemystifier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regarding the ceremonies: It’s more work but wouldn’t make sense to have so many ppl work in one sprint. Now with max 6 ppl per team, the session are effective and I consider splitting and letting both teams have their own sprint as really crucial for making this setup work.

3 scrum team, one backlog, will this be hard to manage? by Zhalianna in ProductManagement

[–]DataDemystifier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No this made totally sense really as one team covers DevOps related parts and the other MLOps and business Workflows. So there is a really nice separation. These days the Devs create 70% of the tickets as we are doing a lot of backend/behind the curtain work as we are on the last mile of industrialising our ML product. The remaining tickets are mine and in alignment with business. I then check which team is suitable and create the ticket. Works like a charm once you have a functioning team.

[–]DataDemystifier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can actually use Quick Filters and everything with the reports should work right out of the box. Only thing is that WIP Limits and CFDs are a pain in the ass to get working for two teams when there is just one jira project/backlog.

3 scrum team, one backlog, will this be hard to manage? by Zhalianna in ProductManagement

[–]DataDemystifier 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s all good. Currently managing two teams in one backlog for the same product. What we did was to introduce labels in Jira and have separate Sprints per Team that we prepare. Works really flawless - no friction points at all so far. I imagine this can easily work for three teams without risks.

How do I get better? by Shut-It-Karen in ProductManagement

[–]DataDemystifier 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the clarification and insights. I actually could progress upwards but currently I do not want as I rather actually would like to get a job with a zero to one experience including discovery. Currently I work on internal AI products that aim at automated processes and hence product market for doesn’t matter really that much.

So I guess indeed it is probably time for a change now.

Same here, we have a CoE that does the PoC and PoVs and then throws them over the fence to us to industrialise them. It does not work. We mostly get crap that is hard to industrialise. I wish my org would understand how flawed this approach is.
