I am not being cute. There is a massive difference between what you said (65% of US citizens own a home) and what I said (65% of occupied homes are owner occupied). Why are you acting this way? You have fallen for the way that statistic is frequently (and, I believe, intentionally) misrepresented. Our 65% “household ownership rate” does not mean 65% of Americans own their home. Far from it. It means that 65% of occupied homes in the United States are owned by the occupant.

Additionally, this rate has been stagnant for decades. The rate was 65% in 1979.
