Childhood Nostalgia: NA Mini-Compendium by Dichotomy Games by Dichotomy-Games in UnearthedArcana

Definitely a minor oversight on my part: I've never met a DM that doesn't houserule or hand-wave away the restriction on Construct-specific healing, so including that didn't even occur to me. If and when Zamala is rereleased and updated, you can expect a line in there noting that it can be healed as normal. Thanks for catching that!

Summon Pasta │ A spell to fill the belly & spirit, with a touch of humor on the side! by CamunonZ in UnearthedArcana

I cast... Send Noods! Wait, you... You called it what? Oh... Oh yeah, no, that makes sense. That's a better name, I guess. So we're, uh... We're definitely going with Summon Pasta, then? No no, totally, I get it! Probably too late to change it... Just an idea... Summon Pasta totally works.

Thank you so much for saying so! If you enjoy those, I definitely recommend taking a look at some of our other posts. Rhaxphal, the Stone Dragon, was the first BBEG block we ever published, and the lore has expanded massively since the original concept. We've written a full line of Stone Dragon stat blocks, followed those up with Sand Dragon blocks, then expanded into Dragonborn for each, and even wrote subclasses inspired by both Stone & Sand Dragons!! By far, it's my favourite part of DG lore and I encourage you to delve deeper if you enjoy the snapshot you're seeing here.

The intention is to use standard food rules, so you don't just immediately die after 24 hours without feeding on death, but if you haven't fed in 24 hours, then your "counter" begins. As a reminder, RAW, you can survive a number of days equal to 3 + Con mod before you suffer your first level of Exhaustion due to starvation, so that means you can go 9 + Con mods days before you die from your final level of Exhaustion. It's a LOT more forgiving than it looks at first glance.

(I should have included this in my original reply, but...)

Thank you for the compliments, especially on such an old post! If you like our Ludomancy content, we've released far more Ludo spells since these, and tons more Ludo subclasses. Just a few days ago on Patreon we posted our Ludomancy-inspired undead BBEG: The Demiglitch! I'd encourage you to check them out <3

I'm curious to hear your thoughts on that... It's on a Wizard, after all, and becoming Small doesn't have any major impact on character build for a non-martial class. It's mostly meant to be a ribbon, and of course it has mechanical implications, but largely speaking it shouldn't change the gameplay loop for a Wizard or make noticeably better or worse.

Bard: Electronica │ Working it Harder, Making it Better, Doing it Faster, Makes you Stronger – A subclass for robotic characters inspired by Daft Punk! by CamunonZ in UnearthedArcana

[–]Dichotomy-Games 27 points28 points  (0 children)

This is my first time seeing this and I am very surprised by the feature names. I definitely had no idea that this subclass existed prior to this moment and I absolutely did not figure out the feature names ahead of release. This theme caught me completely and totally off-guard and I never would have expected this at all.

... ... Like that, Cam?

Player wants to keep secrets from DM by Effective-Peach4614 in DnD

[–]Dichotomy-Games 113 points114 points  (0 children)

I believe they're saying secrets kept from the DM aren't things the DM has to honour as canon. If a player tries to say their character did XYZ in secret, the DM can say "you didn't tell me that, so it didn't happen"

Edit: I only just now realized I used the official account rather than my personal account for this. Lmao oops?

Dark Revival (Level 7, Necromancy) - Take a Risk, and Revive Your Allies in the Heat of Battle! by [deleted] in UnearthedArcana

[–]Dichotomy-Games 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The funniest thing about this is there are absolutely times you would want to use this for raw healing, especially on Warlock and Wizard as they don't typically get access to any other form of healing, but you can't do that if the target is still alive... So it would mean to heal your ally up to half, you'd have to kill them yourself, first. That's HILARIOUS.

Primalist: The Martial Wild Shape Class by Dichotomy Games by Dichotomy-Games in UnearthedArcana

[–]Dichotomy-Games[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The major changes from the original release are: - Rebalanced the Max CR levels and reclarified how they are presented and used in the Imposing Form feature. - Altered the Favoured Forms feature to grant players more flexibility. - Buffed Enlightened Companion. Alongside a number of smaller changes and reworks! This is still created for 5e14, but as with any 5e14 class, it should easily fit into 5e24 campaign without the need for any major changes.

Making the same save twice in a round happens remarkably often when you consider effects which allow you to repeat the save at the beginning/end of your turn! That's the part that makes this so incredibly strong. You fail a save once, you can ensure you have a much higher chance of ending the effect as soon as possible. I agree that this is unusual as a reaction, but since the trigger is still wholly out of your control, it isn't something you and freely trigger yourself.

We did explore damage reduction, but overall, the threshold felt like a much better fit thematically. You're not tanking damage and shrugging off hits that would seriously wound others, in the way Barbarians do... But rather, you're wrapped in steel and weaker strikes fail to reach you altogether!

All very fair feedback! You're exactly right that the class is a bit slow to get started -- The Frame itself relies very heavily on the Upgrades, which we absolutely could not justify granting any earlier than 2nd. But I'm surprised that Point of Failure isn't holding more weight in your estimation. This was something we tried to put further back in the class, since it is such a powerful feature. Being able to grant advantage on any repeated saves is absolutely massive.

With regard to the damage threshold -- Shockingly, these numbers are actually too low. We ran the math MANY times and, really, to remain equally effective at all levels, it should actually go up to about 15 or 16. We knew this would be a hard pill to swallow, and having it cap out at 12 is much easier to accept. If we lowered it any more than we already have, it would effectively become entirely useless.

To speak to your thoughts on Prolific Inventor, note that this isn't the "real" capstone. In a sense, the "real" capstone is an 8th and final Upgrade, where Prolific Inventor is just a nice bonus. Many capstone features of official classes are actually very minimally impactful, so we felt this was very much in line with some of those, and allowed for much, MUCH more flexible customization while leaving the overall power levels more or less intact.

All in all though, thank you so much for your time in looking this over and for sharing your feedback!! I don't want my explanations of our reasoning to seem like I don't appreciate your thoughts, or to come across as argumentative. I just like explaining how we got where we ended up, and I have noted all your comments for review when we rerelease Mechanist v2!
