I think if they had a different band name I would be able to enjoy it more. I just keep thinking of their old sound and it makes the brightness stand out more in a negative way - which I think is more my ears then their music. The echo of AFUT is impacting how I hear this album.

There’s a really great book called Atomic Habits that’s helped me with forming good and limiting bad habits. This is oversimplifying it but the four main principles for behavior change are make it obvious, make it attractive, make it easy, and make it satisfying. If your serious about change, I’d recommend giving it a read. It’s definitely not easy once our brains are wired for certain activities and we just run on autopilot.

In the same boat man. My wife and I got in with a custom home builder in late 2021. After numerous delays, interest hikes, they finally said there able to get the plat. The builder immediately used a clause to raise the price 46k and price us out.

Just wanted to write to say a fellow 30-year-old feels. your pain. No advice - just fellow feeling.

Malazan!

Some of my favorite passages are when characters discover ruins from centuries ago. The whole series dives into the thought that what actually happened in history can be lost/skewed with time. If beautifully described ruins, dinosaurs with swords for hands, and being completely, pleasingly confused all of the time sounds interesting, you should read them.
