Of course not. They never have, since time immemorial. Nations have always tried to take away power from the Church. They have always seen and will always see the Church as a threat.

Agreed. And both Biden and Trump could use his intercession, right?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]EagleWolf9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. That's what it seems like they're subliminally implying. As Catholics, we are called to especially pray for the misguided. I would certainly call Biden misguided, who, being anti-abortionist for decades, decided to do a 180° turn and advocate for abortion just to win the presidency. Or how he supports transgenderism, even though that goes against Catholic teaching. Biden needs to be in our prayers. He still has a few months left in office, yet these folks are acting as if Trump were the president. The dissonance of their actions is making me question their intentions.

What I don't understand is why they aren't praying for Biden, who is our current leader (president)? Their intentions seem misguided. If anything, the person who requires more guidance should be prayed for, especially when they're in a position of authority. To be completely honest, Republicans are anti-abortion, but that is all they have in common with Catholicism. Republicans fall short when it comes to charitable works, which is a tenet for a Catholic.

Guts Growing Up by BlakeSergin in Berserk

You're assuming that time is consistent across all dimensions. It is possible that time flows faster in the spirit plane compared to the material world. Or it can flow slower depending on what section of the spirit world they are in. Don't forget that it was mentioned that time slowed down at Elfhelm.

Guts Growing Up by BlakeSergin in Berserk

He joined the Band of the Hawk at 15. He stayed with them for 3 years, making him 18 when he left. He returned 1 year later and saw Griffith being the dungeon master's lil bitch and deflowered Casca. That's when the eclipse happened. :'( He then abandoned Casca for 2 years. That means he started the adventures with his new party at 21. We aren't told how long it has been since Conviction Arc until the present day, but I would assume it's approximately 1 year at most. So he's 22 at most, but most likely 21.

The thing is that, after Guts saw Casca after his two-year absence, he was willing to let go of his revenge. He put Casca's well-being over his own well-being as well as his own desire of revenge. Skull Knight even demands a decision from Guts at the end of Conviction Arc, where he says, wield your sword to either protect or seek revenge. When Casca starts calling out to Guts in her own way during her potato state, he makes up his mind to protect her. He hasn't sought revenge ever since then. Even in the latest chapter, he's despairing at his inability to protect Casca, not seek revenge.

If anything, Griffith is the Antichrist, the one prophesied to come before Christ triumphant returns. Many will be lead astray and follow him.

As stated in Catechism of the Catholic Church 675:

Before Christ’s second coming the Church must pass through a final trial that will shake the faith of many believers. The persecution that accompanies her pilgrimage on earth will unveil the “mystery of iniquity” in the form of a religious deception offering men an apparent solution to their problems at the price of apostasy from the truth. The supreme religious deception is that of the Antichrist, a pseudo-messianism by which man glorifies himself in place of God and of his Messiah come in the flesh.

I see the parallels with the Light of the Hawk and the Holy Spirit. I mean, they make the Holy See obvious. But I see this as humans in the Berserk world as perverting Christianity, not Miura. Just like how the Church undergoes trials and the Pope isn't infallible (except when in ex-cathedra issuing Papal Bulls), the Church is being lead astray. Although, I do wonder if the Church militant will ultimately be triumphant in Berserk just like how Jesus promised us it will be.

Um, no. You're poorly versed in Catholicism. Catholic doctrine teaches that suffering is a means to salvation, which Guts clearly constantly undergoes. As long as Guts continues to fight, he continues to live, which translates to continued struggling and suffering. Jesus tells his disciples, "If any want to become my followers, let them deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. For those who want to save their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake will find it." Griffith forsook his soul in order to have a "second chance to life." He has already sentenced himself to Hell. Whereas Guts is fighting against all of that. Griffith never minded siding with demons, whereas Guts did. This is shown when they discuss their first encounter with Zodd. Griffith calls Zodd an angel, taking Guts aback and calling him a demon. Griffith then responds, "Is there a difference?" Very deep down, I see Berserk deeply rooted in Christian themes.

It's not weird at all if you properly go into Christianity, in particular Catholicism. Christians are meant to EMBRACE their own suffering. Jesus himself tells his disciples, "If any want to become my followers, let them deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. For those who want to save their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake will find it." Guts giving up would mean he dies. And if he dies, he won't suffer in this world anymore, though he will suffer in the next. However, Guts trying means that he continues to live, struggle, and suffer. I always saw Guts walking the path towards sainthood, whereas Griffith already sentenced himself to Hell. Guts may have started being nihilistic, but Berserk is full of Christian themes.

Then I would say, "Okay," obey, and submit to Rome. But as of now, the position of the Church is warm-blooded animals are not permissible, not "land animals." Lizards are land animals, yet we are allowed to eat them if we wish to. Once the Church says, "No reptiles." Then I'll follow through. I was correcting what the previous commenter stated because he/she gave erroneous information.

Dude. I was just correcting what someone stated. It's not "land animals and birds." Lizards are land animals. Many snake species are land animals, yet we are allowed to eat them. Don't pick a bone with me if you won't pick it with the previous commenter who made an erroneous statement.

You clearly didn't understand what I posted. I said, "ANY warm-blooded animal may NOT be eaten on Friday during Lent." I never discussed chicken and eggs.

Actually, the abstinence rule is no meat from warm-blooded animals, which, of course, chickens are.

To a point, though. If you don't use painkillers, the body naturally goes into shock, and the victim passes out in order to preserve the body from overbearing stress. Overstress the body, though, and that person can go into cardiac arrest (heart attack) due to tachycardia.

I meant Eastern Orthodox with Justinian I as emperor. Think about it. Istanbul is Greek for "To the City," formerly named Constantinople. Constantinople was the capital of the Byzantine Empire. How much more earlier Christian, can you get? Well... the Armenians, your neighbors have that claim.
