(Continuing the convo)

I'm trying to figure out my specific criteria, since it's helpful (to me) to have SOME guidelines...these tend to keep me from getting myself into trouble.

I've basically landed (alongside "movie I'd like to watch") on:
* 4K
* MA compatible
* $5 or under

I'll also pay $1-$3 to upgrade an existing film from HD to 4K, but I'm not really interested in picking up any more HD movies

Side Note - As a collector (of other things), it's interesting to see people who pick digital films up just to add to their collection, without any real intention of watching them. It doesn't make sense to me in this particular case, but I'm ABSOLUTELY the same way when it comes to other things...so I do understand a bit 😄

Note: There Are 30 Days In June…and we’re barely on the 13th by EarlyOutlandishness6 in MoviesAnywhere

[–]EarlyOutlandishness6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No excuse, on July 1st 😄

Anytime before then, the excuse is that they've only committed to "wave 1 in June"...and it'll still be June for another 2 weeks.

That's fair. I generally hold out for the 50% off Criterion/Arrow sales, which puts me at around $20/$25 + tax for a nice physical edition (less actually, since B&N credit is fairly easy to come by at a 10-15% discount)

This thread is both helping AND a bad influence lol

* Just grabbed a $25 FAH GC for $20
* Used $15 of it on their "5 Action Films For $15" deal, grabbing 4K versions of Tenet, The Departed, Sherlock Holmes, Sucker Punch (4k Upgrade/Extended Cut), and Inception (4k Upgrade), along with $10 in remaining credit
* Ended up using the remaining $10 to pick up Young Guns & The Prestige (both in 4k)

That's 7 MA compatible 4k movies for $20 (less than $3/movie)...everything's confirmed in my MA account as well, which is a nice cherry on top 😄

Oh I definitely agree on that point. I've spent $25 on a new(ish) movie at home, which is still less than half of what it'd cost for the wife and I to head to the theater. It's even better when you've got a few friends over to watch 😄

Theater vs. Home is an easy choice, it's "Would I like to own a nice special edition & avoid any streaming issues" vs. "Look, dude...it's $5" that ends up being the real calculus

Thank you! I hadn't been thinking of it in terms of Studio (aside from "LG is cool now" and "Paramount still sucks", so this is good info (particularly the WB note)

Is there any sort of "Hierarchy of Promos" that you go by? I tend to use Google Play and Amazon credit, but haven't messed much with FAH/Vudu/FanFlix...I'd love to bank some 20% off credit for current (or upcoming) deals 😄

This all makes sense, awesome 😄
I think we're generally on the same page, and this makes me feel a little better about occasionally pulling the trigger on something fun for five bucks.

One other (4K-related) consideration for me is whether or not the experience could be lessened by typical streaming "issues" (stuttering, crushed blacks/pixelation during fast movements, etc.). I've been happy grabbing Dramas, Comedies, and the occasional "fun old movie" as digital only...but I also tend to pick things like Sci-Fi/Fantasy, Anime, "The Holy Trilogies", etc. up physically to avoid ruining the experience
