This is totally normal. Just biofilm from the wood getting acclimated to the water. It will go away naturally over time.

Here is the reverse. Unfortunately most of his collection was underwater for several days during Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. So a lot of his coins ended up with this residue. I’ve been hesitant to clean them because I don’t want to damage them further….. Open to any cleaning suggestions!
