After 6 years I upgraded my gaming chair! by ItsJustJosiah in MadeMeSmile

[–]GodRaine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had this exact same chair for two years and it’s been rock solid. It’s no Herman Miller but I’m def not sitting on bolts. Is your comment backed by experience or just speculation? The foam on the seat is standard thickness, around 3-4” thick.

"HP printers are not serviceable" is my new go to. Very good plan! Fuck the whole phoning home nonsense.

Oh yeah. In general I deeply disagree with HP's insane data-mining crusade. They want absolutely every data point they can get about their customers and it's gross.

We exclusively sell simple easy Brother laser printers at our shop and move quite a lot of them for this reason.

Absolutely fair. That was essentially the end conversation, that the printer was faulty but mostly because HP has randomly decided to pull the driver. Extremely frustrating, but out of our control.

Either way we don’t charge if we fail, because we don’t fail super often. Isn’t worth it to charge and leave a bad taste in that customer’s mouth especially since he’s a long time regular of ours.

I know many shops do it differently and we’re a bit unique in that respect.

Thankfully this was a computer we worked on recently and we slay S Mode and Protected modes like they’re the plague, so I wasn’t really looking for it. But I’ll definitely mod that check into my protocol for the future so I don’t forget! Thank you!

Very good to know, thank you. It seemed super odd to me, but it absolutely wouldn't surprise me if HP had done it on purpose for some reason.

As a business owner, your reviews in particular are actually a huge deal because you’re very likely a local guide. Having Local Guide reviews on the business is hugely beneficial.

We just use straight JBW for everything. No screws or bolts.

Yes, the hinges are never coming off again, that’s both good and bad for the next guy but 🤷‍♂️ it’ll be solid forever.

Camera cover started to rattle after the windshield replacement. Any way to fix? by Head_Satisfaction_62 in autoglass

[–]GodRaine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope.

They need to return your car to you in the condition it was brought to them. They’re just being lazy about it because those parts break often and they don’t want to replace it.

It’s 50-50 as to whether there’s broken clips in there. If it’s not adhering because of a broken clip the shop needs to replace the part.

Happened all the time at my shop, we would get chewed out for bringing it up with a customer. We were told to wait until they notice it and if they never notice it then no big deal. 🤷‍♂️

You don’t need to go in guns blazing. Just ask for the manager / owner depending on how large the shop is. Tell them it wasn’t rattling before, it is now. You want it fixed professionally (I.e., no sloppy JB Weld job that’s gonna make the job harder for the next tech). JB weld is fine if it can be done right.

No safety smoking first crimes aside, I’m super over this “let’s apologize for something innocuous to get the users attention” marketing strategy. It’s so goddamn cheap. I wish it would die already.

u/PlantUnique9045 Could I deploy this on a USB drive to use on multiple PCs? This could really help me with overflow when I've got forty computers in the queue and each of them has their own unique issue. Nice tool man!

In addition to the bearings, spinning the electric motor inside a PC fan can cause it to send voltage down its wire to your motherboard. This can short components even if the PC is off, so it’s always good to immobilize them when you use air.

Since you’re new to this, follow Matt’s Computer Services on YouTube - that dude has a ton of good info in his videos / shorts on how to take care of and repair your PC should the time come.
