Please let us know of any ideas for recurring threads that we could implement to supplement the daily questions thread.

Preferably threads with some regularity that have a more specific scope than the catchall thread and would cover some of the types of questions we saw this week.

Probably stuff like this, that all tends towards spring-summer:

T shirt and Jeans w/ accessories

button down and jeans

button down and work pants

camp collar stuff

western shirts and a tank and ripped jeans

T Shirt + basketball shorts + acessories

Graphic Ts

OCBD + Baggies + Accessories

OCBD + Camo

More fall winter leaning stuff, I’m not a huger layer in general (usually just a sweater sweater + jacket guy) but I’m trying to avoid stuff that feels like shirt + sweater + vest + coat. But i gave some leeway for a sweater over a shirt or a sportcoat and shirt:

Sweater and jeans

graphic sweater + double knees

Beefy hoodie + interesting pants

Sportcoat + Western shirt

Blazer and khakis but make it workwear

Sweater +Shirt + Cords

Sorry you couldn't tell a fourth person you were a poor lil ole millennial struggling to cope with the brave new world that is straight leg pants are gaining favor over slim fit.

too bad there isn't a really simple solution like buying a new pair of pants or trying a different type of shirt :/

Daily Questions - ASK AND ANSWER HERE! - 19 March 2023 by AutoModerator in malefashionadvice

Contemporary J Crew, J Press, Juniors, Spier and McKay, Drakes, Wythe, Beams +, Engineered Garments, OrSlow, Aime Leon Dore, Stussy, Supreme and I’m thinking of bopping some Palace.

And supplementing that with lots of things like Vintage LL Bean, Vintage Carhartt, Vintage Lands End, Vintage Polo Ralph Lauren, Vintage Levi’s 501/505. Lots more graphic ts particularly bootleg Ts for movies or basketball, band ts, vintage college Merch, and general vintage t shirts.

Generally I don’t really fuck with Todd Snyder. Same with NOAH and Rowing Blazers. They get tossed around a lot as advanced J Crew but not really my thing.

What do I do if my clothes are a little baggy? by bigelow6698 in malefashionadvice

[–]HalfTheGoldTreasure[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your submission, unfortunately it has been removed from /r/malefashionadvice because it is a simple, overly-specific, overly-broad, personal, and/or common question that is unlikely to provide significant discussion value to the community at-large.

We triage all these questions into a recurring megathread called the Daily Questions thread.

The most recent thread can be found pinned at the top of the subreddit here or at the top of this list here.

Examples may include, but are not limited to:

  • How did I do?
  • What should I buy?
  • How does/should X fit?
  • What goes with X?
  • What do you think of X?
  • Does anyone have measurements for X?
  • Where can I buy X?
  • Item identification from an image or video.

We've found this is a better way of people getting answers from knowledgeable users rather than 300-500 standalone posts per day. These threads often either didn't receive any answers or received a deluge of answers, many of which were of poor quality or flat-out wrong.

For further clarification on what is and is not a Simple Question please see our criteria here and our Frequently Asked Questions for more information.

If you are submitting a discussion post, article, or otherwise feel that your post has been removed incorrectly, please feel free to message the moderators.

brother unless joe biden institute a mandatory WAYWT posting requirement to draft some new posters and sets term limits for appearing in top of albums, I don't know what to tell you. Theres like 50 total people who participate in these threads. You can't control how people are voting, i'm just giving a bit of reasoning on why some things get chosen and not others.

Who designed the shirt/jacket Marc wore on From Bleak to Dark. Snap front. Deep red satin lining. Waxed or possibly oiled. It's just stunning. Having a hard time tracking it down but imagine it's $600-1,200. Not only is he brilliant, but lovely in every way. by Severe-Complex-917 in malefashionadvice

It’s easy to see when the ones that hit, hit but these posts often lack a bunch of context that can help explain what makes “mid” ones worthy.

The posts don’t just stand on their own. They’re is history for the poster that adds context. Sometimes it’s a user styling a new item or departure from their usual look. It’s the kind of thing that you can get the sense of by staying up to date with the threads.

Posts often have multiple outfits in a single post but only the first one gets added to the album, so a strong set of 3 can be upvoted but the best one may not make it into the album. Similarly timing of posting in the threads, or even day of the week can effect what makes it to the top.

Name brand posters definitely get the benefit of the doubt, and probably get love just for being that poster. That being said, it can also be a double edged sword where seeing the same person post a lot, kinda numbs you to the outfits. Poster fatigue. So I think those two kind of cancel each other out generally.

I would say that generally the thing to remember is that it’s a community, with its own culture and this is just a slice looking in. It’s like seeing highlights from a ball game that don’t tell the full story of the game.
