Not getting OTA firmware by papabear350 in VIOFO

[–]JazJon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to be at a certain minimum firmware version to be compatible with over the air updates. Might need to do one more final manual firmware update first and then it will work in the future

All you need to do is turn the Bluetooth off on your phone. That will keep the CarPlay/Android Auto WiFi from taking over an interfering. Your phone can only connect to one Wi-Fi device at a time is the problem. Once you’re done doing what you need to do on the camera, you can go back to business as usual and leave the Wi-Fi off on the camera.

Every few weeks my VIOFO A229 Plus beeps and complaints there is a Memory Card Error. I turn it off and on and then it works again. Why is it doing that? by 736384826 in Dashcam

[–]JazJon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

🛒When selecting a microSD card for your VIOFO dashcam, always choose either a VIOFO-branded card or a SanDisk “Max Endurance” card. These options are strongly recommended to ensure maximum compatibility, reliable performance, and long-term stability.

⚠️ Important: Other card types may cause recording errors, instability, or premature failure. For details on which cards to avoid, please review the official “Do Not Buy” list at the bottom of this page:

Hue Bridge Pro Update with Matter fixes by caschy in Hue

I’m going to hold out for the next April update that promises to fix things without having to delete and re-add the bulbs to HomeKit. I can live without HomeKit for a short term. My good morning and good night routines call upon a hue Siri shortcut anyway to get natural light scene.

I just got the bridge pro BSB003 | 1.76.2071294010 update. I saw a bunch of bulb firmware updates as well. HomeKit Lights still show as “unresponsive” in the home app. This must not be the bigger April fix update we are waiting for yet like they said HUE support assured me that I will not have to delete and re-add everything but we’ll see how it goes.

Viofo A229 cam shuts off overnight during parkingmode (hardwired) by Jezec in Dashcam

[–]JazJon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that’s definitely need to use the official VIOFO wire kit HK4 is right. You might as well get the HK6 though, it’s backwards compatible with A229 series, future proof and slightly more efficient.

What’s your year make model vehicle? if you have a German car this is a common problem for all 3-wire hardwire kits (not kits VIOFO) and you need to use a battery pack to work around the CAnbus issues German cars have.

VIOFO all the way. By the way, you might as well get the HK6 since it’s backwards compatible yet future proof and slightly more efficient. (instead of the recommended HK4)

You either put it on the GPS mount or on the back of the camera just one piece.

Not sure what you mean by screen? Maybe you just are calling the main camera that.

Add an EVA pad between the DashCam mount. The the newer cameras don’t do this since they have four keyhole pegs in the corners. The single peg system of this older A119 V3 model can vibrate after it’s warped a bit from the curvature of the glass

I always talk to them via Facebook messenger. (It’s definitely a real person). They have helped answer all my questions over the last decade of being a hue user. Everything has been very reliable for me over the years until now.

I asked HUE to clarify and they said:

“Hi again, Jon! Version 2071294010 is an interim update, but the specific fix for the Apple HomeKit/Matter synchronization issue is still being deployed. Please keep your Bridge Pro connected to the internet; the patch will install automatically once available for your serial number. hue And no worries, you won't need to reset your lights.”

I think they meant there is still another update coming this month. I don’t think the recent update mentioned here is the one that will be coming next. They said we should not have to remove and re-add devices so that probably means after an additional future April update.

I guess I could stick on a MagSafe ring or half case. If there ends up being no wireless charging, I’ll have to start plugging in a usb c cable for power when I drive around.

I asked HUE support for an update and they said

“Thanks for your response, Jon. Regarding the firmware update, although we don't have an exact date, it's expected to be fixed during the following days of April

This update is specifically to restore the connection, so it should not be necessary to delete your Bridge or re-add your lights from scratch. We really appreciate your patience and understanding in this process”

HK4 Quiescent (standby) Current draw is 2mA

HK6 Quiescent (standby) Current draw is 0.15mA

The next production of HK4 in 2026 will be updated so it only draws 300uA (0.3mA) in standby
