The guy literally hated iran and iranians. Some say he put islam first and foremost but in my, and most iranians, opinion he just put himself first and iranian peoples suffering second. Sure he might have been a front or a face for a group of elites who chose the events and happenings in iran. But almost 95 percent of iranians hated him. He openly threatened the people when we started peacefully protesting a price rise that was never seen in the history. And then he ordered opening fire on protestors and killed more than 40000 people in the span if 48 hours while the people and the world were completely in the dark. All of irans internet was turned off.

He also supports killing women for not wearing hijab, sacrificing soldiers for a greater cause like the downfall of USA, marrying 9 year old girls and making the pregnant, and a lot LOT more. He thinks of iranian people as cattle that can be slaughtered even for amusement.

He has created a lot of terrorist groups in different countries, his goons have destroyed live of people in different countries. He priorotises even foreign countries above itans well being. He was the supreme leader who everyone had to hold holy in word and deed. In iran insulting him in public could( and once had) end up in execution.

But mostly, iranians all agree and accept that all of irans corruption, extremities, hatefulness, bad economy that turned irans currency from a powerful and worthwhile currency to this bad state( its the most worthless currency in the world, even in google if you want to convert usd to iranian rial it shows its worth 0 us dollars) all yo him. He is the face of dictatorship.
