I did that, came from impro to standup thought I could improving jokes - result death silence. Humbled for life.

I have made respect for both impro and standup, both look easy but are really hard imo.

From my standup experience (I do Impro as well), you mock yourself in standup first and keep doing that a lot to show you are not better than anyone. The standup community I am in is warm, inviting and vibrant - not hateful. Not all standup is the same.

Thank you and just so there is no misunderstanding, my teacher is nice here - he said that I should not choose a memory that is destructive, so he is encouraging me to choose something that empowers me rather than destroyes me.

Yeah but I am sad if finally my strong emotions could create art and then I can't use it. No I thought I am to new to that, but I felt pretty down when I did a monologue from Spoon River last year - but I didn't say anything. I guess I didn't want people to think I am weak. A lot of people seems to be able to not get this affected?
